When a Good Plan Comes Together

I love it when a good plan comes together. When a variety of factors come into alignment in a way that produces multiple good outcomes, it is a joy - a pleasing work of art. Especially when the plan is in the work of the Kingdom.
Today I’m leaving a country in North and Central Asia where I’ve seen a wonderful Kingdom plan come together. Let me share the points:
First, our Alliance workers noticed that large numbers of people are moving to the outskirts of their capital city in search of jobs and chances for their children to gain a good education.
Next, they realized the smiles they’d get from the local government officials if they could help these families.
Third, they brought unique skills, especially in their knowledge of multiple languages and computer programming to the task.
Fourth, they found partners in the US Alliance who would give generously to their project and send teams to help outfit the children’s education centers they envisioned.
Lastly, they organized local believers with teaching qualifications, in need of a job, but also with a sense of calling to see needs met and poor neighborhoods reached with the Gospel.
The result? Children’s educational centers in the growing shanty- and tent-towns surrounding this capital city. These centers provide English and Korean language instruction, as well as computer and study skills for children who are new to the city’s schools. For this, even poorer families who’ve made the move from villages to the city are willing to pay. And since they pay, the believing teachers have a chance to develop this as a business. And with the goodwill and lots of friendly contact generated in the neighborhoods, these teachers and other believers are planting churches in the centers that are free to be used each weekend.
In this capital city there are now four of these centers, and outside the city there are two more. In each of them between 10 and 40 children are receiving help, teachers are earning a living and the church is being planted in these communities.
Don’t you love it when a plan comes together? Praise the Lord of the Plan for this! It’s always his idea.
