Just about EVERYTIME that Jesus healed someone, or cast out a demon, or restored eyesight or hearing or talking, Jesus always said...and I paraphrase: "Go thy way...thy faith....has made the whole" or.."Your faith has healed you (I thought Jesus just healed her). Or, to the Syro-Phonicien (sp) woman who wanted her child healed, to whom Jesus said: "First let the children eat all they want," he told her, "for it is not right to take the children's bread and toss it to the dogs." And then we know that the women said: "Lord," she replied, "even the dogs under the table eat the children's crumbs."
And then what did Christ say...let's look: Then he told her, "For such a reply, you may go; the demon has left your daughter."
In other words, there was always some responsibility on the part of the one getting ministered to by the Son of Man. Jesus seemed to value the person's: Faith, or their faith when it prompted some words.
Or look at what Jesus' words (in Matthew 8) about the Centurion, who said: The centurion replied, "Lord, I do not deserve to have you come under my roof. But just say the word, and my servant will be healed. For I myself am a man under authority, with soldiers under me. I tell this one, 'Go,' and he goes; and that one, 'Come,' and he comes. I say to my servant, 'Do this,' and he does it."
Jesus responds: When Jesus heard this, he was amazed and said to those following him, "Truly I tell you, I have not found anyone in Israel with such great faith. I say to you that many will come from the east and the west, and will take their places at the feast with Abraham, Isaac and Jacob in the kingdom of heaven. But the subjects of the kingdom will be thrown outside, into the darkness, where there will be weeping and gnashing of teeth." Then Jesus said to the centurion, "Go! Let it be done just as you believed it would." And his servant was healed at that moment.
This is powerful. We are told over and over and over: we have to do nothing but "let go and let God"
Really? I am reading something totally different. In my study, I am seeing that Faith is a two-way street. When one has an encounter with Christ...one is not required to sit there idly while God moves around him/her and just blesses them to a fare-thee-well. Jesus seemed to be advocating a response from the one being blessed. (healed delivered, etc etc). I am not able to finish my thoughts due to giving momma her meds. Please respond with your thoughts. I have an open mind and want to hear you on this subject. The subject? Jesus's responce everytime that he healed someone, cast out a demon, etc etc etc etc etc. And the fact that He, the majority of the time maybe, said "Thy faith....has healed you". Does it logically follow that it wasn't Jesus that did the healing....but the Faith? No no, I am not advocating a new doctrine here. I am merely asking. And I am not asking for ANY OTHER REASON as to learn from more seasoned Christians. What part...or what percentage.....does Faith play in my relationship to God. If alot...then how can I have more faith. More faith.....more interaction with God. (it would seem to follow)
