I have fallen down
countless times,
falsely proclaiming:
"I am fine!"
Flat on my face
in every clime and place;
looking to the ground
for a sign of some grace.
Doing things my way
only led me astray;
to the bottle I'd run
'til it no longer was fun.
Destroying who God
so wonderfully made,
increasingly drove me more insane.
Once again
lying flat on my face,
I longed for some hope
just a little grace.
Years flew by
hope no longer in sight;
I began to wonder:
"Would I ever get this right?"
Then one day
as I began to cave,
I heard of a Savior
who conquered the grave!
Hope at last,
and it came so fast!
He brushed the dirt off my face
and washed away my past!
Never before
have I experienced such love;
that could have only been given
from our Father above.
His Word gave me hope
as I faced every mountain;
Jesus the Christ
to my soul was a fountain.
Although I'm not perfect
He graciously understands;
Here on this earth
I am still just a man.
"Run to win!" my Savior exclaims;
"Never will I leave nor forsake you" my Jesus proclaims!
Such words of encouragement
I JUST CANNOT FAIL!
A mighty wind is now blowing
which catches my sail!
Today I still battle
with demons and such,
but no longer do I stand
on my old useless crutch.
My Jesus, my Savior
'cause of Him I'm a new man;
both now and forever by His strength
I WILL STAND!
