My Observations About Discipleship

Posted by Albert Morse , 10 September 2011 · 1169 views

I think it would be good for everyone to understand discipleship as a stepped growth process.

Everything has a beginning. We are all start as sinners. We are born sinners and we sin on a daily basis. This is where all people start in their walk with God. Everyone is a sinner.

Psalm 51:3-6 (ESV)
3 For I know my transgressions,
and my sin is ever before me.
4 Against you, you only, have I sinned
and done what is evil in your sight,
so that you may be justified in your words
and blameless in your judgment.
5Behold, I was brought forth in iniquity,
and in sin did my mother conceive me.
6Behold, you delight in truth in the inward being,
and you teach me wisdom in the secret heart.

The scripture is telling us that David was a sinner from birth. We need to remember that we are ourselves. The human King of Israel, David, the shepherd boy that grew into maturity and a man after God’s own heart (1 Sam 13:13-15) started out as a sinner.

If you do not think you are a sinner please humbly read the Bible starting with John.

Learn what the word sinner means.
Learn what God’s standard is for good.
Learn what God calls Holy.
Lean what God calls common or not Holy.
Learn who is Good according to God’s standard.
Learn God’s laws, His Ten Commandments.

So step one understand you are a sinner before a Holy God.
