A practical skills project in a local Alliance church, brings together believers, anxious to provide some money to meet the needs of the family. This project is the making of brooms. Locally made brooms are a must have and need to be replaced every few weeks. The cost varies from 50 cents to a dollar, depending on the size and type of broom. Living out in a village, these women have easy access to the dry straw that is used to make the brooms. As with all types of learning, some catch on quicker than others. We were impressed with those who worked alongside those who were struggling. The goal of this group was to make sure every woman made at least one broom. Even though several could have moved ahead and made three or four, they took the time to work alongside those who were finding it difficult. This too is discipleship. Working together towards a common goal of being rooted in Christ. Encouraging and making sure everyone is moving forward so that all can reach that place where they can disciple others. Discipleship is not just studying scripture together, it is journeying through life together and helping as many as possible to be able to stand on that day.
