Part of missions involvement is preparing the next generation to go out into the world. Three of our children are serving as missionaries, but our team also invests in Christian young people who want to serve the Lord. Fatim was a part of another religion. She was orphaned during her childhood and lived with different relatives. At a school she attended, she met Christians who shared with her about Jesus. Fatim knew this was the path that she wanted to follow. But it would be a costly path. Her relatives kicked her out and said that now the church should be responsible for her. At first she lives with the pastor's family and then another Christian family, but she was finding it difficult to pay schooling costs. She started working odd jobs, finished high school, but could not come up with money for university. She volunteered at the Christian radio station, and the radio director realized she had a gift in communication. We were approached about helping Fatim to attend university to prepare her for full-time Christian radio ministry. We sponsor many pastors to complete theological training, but we also look for Christian young people that are wanting to serve Christ in businesses, in television, and in education. Our prayer is that these will carry the Gospel into their areas of service or even beyond the borders of Burkina Faso. Preparing young people for missions is something which we we all can do. Maybe in your church or circle of friendship you would see a young person who needs encouragement in the Lord. A note, a care-package, some financial help might just be the blessing that person needs as he fulfills God's call to go.
