Part of our DNA is looking for the marginalized peoples in a society and reaching out to them through the Good News of the Gospel. Six years ago, our team visited a village and found over a dozen deaf people, attending church each Sunday but never hearing a bit of what was said or done. Our team chose these three children from the village church and brought them to the deaf school so that they could learn to sign. They are now beginning their last year of elementary school and will take an important exam (the same that hearing children take) to qualify them to continue into middle school. Little did we realize that these children would suddenly move out of marginalization into the role of scribes and mathematicians in their village. When a letter needs to be read or written, when sums need to be calculated, these children are called on to be of help. Our C&MA DNA makes us intentional in reaching the marginalized and forgotten or overlooked with the Good News of the Gospel. Our founder emphasized the people within our reach. We believe these three children were within our reach and that they will go on to bring many others in the deaf community the Good News of Christ.
