Yes, you would say that we are too old to do youth ministry! But in a city where the majority of the population is under 25, where jobs are scarce, where young people are searching for answers, we must be involved and help to provide opportunities for them to hear the Gospel. In recent weeks, we have hosted youth gatherings at our home and invited a young person from our church to share his testimony. We have sponsored youth to be a part of a small business training that was held in our churches and taught by Christians. We meet with youth leaders to encourage them and provide resources for them to use in their youth outreaches. We provide tracts and go in to the local schools to speak with teenage girls. Lord willing, our team will soon open our third center that targets young women at risk by providing them with a practical skill and literacy. We might think that we are too old to be involved with youth, but we all should be leaning in, helping and encouraging programs in our church and community that are helping the next generation. We should faithfully pray for youth pastors and those outreaches that target young people. We should be willing to open our home, drive the van, or bake the cookies that will help facilitate youth ministries. We are thankful to be present in Burkina Faso, even though we may be very old, still investing in youth ministry!
