“Then call on me when you are in trouble, and I will rescue you, and you will give me glory.” Psalm 50:15
Martine, one of our widows, shared this praise at our last meeting. There had been a heavy rain during the night. Early in the morning, while it was still dark, she went out to use the outhouse. As she stepped onto the cement slab, it gave way beneath her. As she struggled to get up, she dropped farther, but was caught around her waist on the hole in the middle of the cement slab. “Jesus, please help me,” was what she cried because she knew no one would be awake to hear her. But family and neighbors heard that cry and came running and grabbed a large stick that she could hold on to. As she was pulled to safety, the cement slab gave way completely and fell into the pit. We praise the Lord for saving the life of this woman and for clearly showing all of us that Jesus does hear us when we pray.
