Alliance DNA
We are thankful for the life of our mother Elfriede Schaeffer and for her commitment to the Lord Jesus and with that her commitment to her husband, her family, her church family, and the Great Commission. It is a great concern to us, the generation after her, that we too pass on to our children and grandchildren this commitment to Christ and thus to our marriages, family, church, and the proclamation of the Gospel. Consistent prayer for her family brought the greatest impact and but also the example of her life, the authenticity of her love for Jesus, spurred us to follow in her footsteps. She created a missional atmosphere in her home by reading missionary biographies to her children, by inviting missionaries in for meals, and having missionaries’ prayer cards on the fridge. At one point five of her nine children were serving as missionaries. As Andrew and I prepare to send out one of our children to serve in Gabon, we realize what that meant for her. But the idea of DNA is that some of the DNA of the parent will be found in the child. May we assure, through our prayers and by being authentic Christ-followers, that generations to come will be solidly committed to proclaiming Jesus Christ, our Savior, Sanctifier, Healer, and Coming King.
