The stigma attached to unwed mothers continues in our churches. This was the comment that a young woman made to me, "No one from the church has visited me." Having grown up in the church, but with huge family issues and struggles to have food on the table, she was vulnerable. Young women at risk are in every country and every setting. Here in Burkina, we are doing our best to come alongside these young women and provide what is needed so that they stayed connected to Christ. When she shared this very hurtful news that no one had visited her or even talked to her when she finally got the courage to return to church, I said, "but you will be different." You will visit other young women and encourage them. You will lead the way for change and be a channel of blessing to other young women who are in difficult situations. Hurtful situations should always inspire us to do better, to pray for others who might be going through the same difficulty or hurt. Pray for this young woman and several others that our team is helping.
