Bobo Team is committed to doing as much good as we can in our community. We take Ephesians 2:10 to heart and understand that we are created in Christ Jesus for good works, and that God has already planned much good for us to do. He is our advance person. And so we put ourselves out there, looking for ways to come alongside those in difficult situations, those who need a word of encouragement or an act of kindness. This Christmas season we planned an event at the local hospital to distribute gift bags to the children. We work as a team and go through the wards and offer to pray with any that would like us to do so. As I walked by a room in the burn/surgical area, I heard uncontrollable crying from an adult. For an instant I hesitated, not wanting to embarrass the man who was crying. They had already received their bag and so I was ready to pass on. But I went on in thinking that just maybe this was something good that God had prepared for me to do. Through deepest grief, he told us that he had three children. Two had died when a gas cylinder exploded and the third had severe burns and there was not much hope. As we stood beside him, it was just natural to begin to pray and to cry out to God for a miracle and to bring comfort. As the tears subsided and we could exchange follow up phone numbers, we knew that God had prepared this moment for us. Someone in shock and sorrow and suddenly a group of believers surrounding him in prayer. And that is the heart of missions; going to difficult places and doing good works and lifting up Jesus, knowing that God has prepared the way for us.
