Should man be Purpose driven or God driven?
Should man in pursuit of God or in pursuit of purpose?.

Maybe I am wrong but it seems to me, according to the Scripture, that Jesus says in His call to all mankind it is that our purpose should become His purpose for us.
Matthew 6:9 After this manner therefore pray ye: Our Father which art in heaven, Hallowed be thy name.
10 Thy kingdom come. Thy will be done in earth, as it is in heaven.
Matthew 7:21 Not every one that saith unto me, Lord, Lord, shall enter into the kingdom of heaven; but he that doeth the will of my Father which is in heaven.
Matthew 16:24 Then said Jesus unto his disciples, If any man will come after me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross, and follow me.

An interesting question, but the answer is easy. When we, as children of the living God, search out our "purpose" in being here in this life, we learn that we are here to live as God would have us live. As one writer puts it...." we are here to reflect God`s glory and to show how children of God should live daily in this life". We all hear the questions asked by those who consider themselves "deep thinkers" (no offense Thinker) who ask for the "meaning of life" or "what am I doing here" but really don`t want an answer to the question. So what is our "purpose" that is supposed to drive us? I suggest that our purpose for being here is to live as best we can in the will of God, understanding that we fall so short of the goal, knowing that God knows that also, understanding that we are loved by Him, praising Him for His covenant, and worshiping Him as creator and savior for us.
The answer is easy, but the actual day to day living of life while being accosted by all the worldly trials is often frustrating, unless we turn our life over to the One who can direct us correctly. So, I suggest that the "purpose driven life" is just fine...if our purpose in life is to live in God`s will for us, as it should be.
Just some thoughts from an old country physician. May God bless us and keep us all beneath His wings as we try to live life as He would have it lived.

"The chief end of man is to glorify God and enjoy Him forever." - Westminster catechism. This seems to say that our main purpose in life, the reason we are here, is to bring God glory and have fellowship with him for eternity. So I don't think it's a matter of being purpose-driven vs. God-driven but to know that He created us for a purpose, and to know what that purpose is.

And we know that all things work together for good to those who love God, to those who are the called according to His purpose.
