Dear friend in Christ,
I know this is kind of late, but I just saw your request now. Although I am not able to help you financially at this time, I do pray that God will meet all of your needs according to His glorious riches in Christ Jesus. In Jesus' name, I agree with you for financial breakthrough, favor, restoration, wisdom, and God's mercy and help.
My husband and I lost his mom a few months ago after she was seriously ill for several months, so I have some understanding of what you're going through. There are some practical steps you might want to take to get some relief from these expenses. First, you should definitely ask the nursing home if they will do a payment plan. My husband was admiited the ER due to stress while caring for his mom during her illness, and the hospital offered us a very reasonable payment plan. Some hospitals/nursing homes also have benevolent programs to assist with the patient's bill; you might want to inquire about this as well.
Also, in many if not most states, children are not responsible for their deceased parents' medical bills, especially if there was no estate to be sold. I checked this out after my mother-m-law died with $5,000 in hospital bills and learned that in the state of Colorado, my husband and I weren't liable for her debt. Also, when my father passed away with over $20,000 in hospital/nursing home bills, my stepmother was not liable for them because he had no estate (this was in Florida). She never even got one bill. You need to look into the laws of your state and find out if you are actually liable for your mother's bills.
As for funeral expenses, I hope that by now you were able to make those arrangements. My husband and I were concenrred about that ourselves, but through the hospice program his mom was in, we found a place that does cremations for as low as $300 plus the urn (his mom had no life instance either).
May God be your very present help in your time of need,
Julie
