From Prince Dick's Family.

Here is my situation:

I all my life I have helped others in their time of need and it seems that when I am in need, I have no one to turn to but My Heavenly Father in Heaven. I am in need of an immediate financial breakthrough…
For the past 7 months after my graduation ceremony, my mother was seriously sick. She has been admitted to hospital for several weeks where she slipped into a coma before passing away.  I urgently need help to pay for the funeral expenses because her oldest sister died 8 months ago after suffering a seizure which put her in a coma and caused bleeding in the brain. We had to bury her first in March. I am financially strapped because over the past few months my mother was in and out of the hospital a lot and currently I am unemployment, so I have an outstanding bill of $3,900 PLUS $5000 budget for my mother funeral service according to our religious traditions, that I have to pay on her behalf, since I was financially responsible for her being the eldest son. These extraordinary expenses are breaking me, and I cannot afford her funeral and really need financial assistance…
My mother did not have life insurance because she could not afford it. Also, the nursing home would have taken its proceeds, as is required by their policies, and this is common to all the homes I looked into. So, because I have no savings and not enough income to just pay for the funeral, I need to ask My CMA for help with this expense…

I am afraid that my mother will not have a funeral, and I have not asked what will happen to her body if we don't do something with her because I'm embarrassed and worried. If I receive this funding, I will be able to give my mother the funeral she deserves, albeit very modest. My mother raised me even though she became disabled when I was 11 years old. She made sure I had a good education and moral values. Before today, I never knew there were organizations such as this to help people in need and I will most certainly become a donor, whether I receive the funding or not. I have always helped others with my time and skills but after going through this experience, I will help people from the little resources I do have because I know how it feels to be in a desperate situation and need someone to help you even though they do not know you…

My Prayer request:

Dear Lord, I pray for an immediate financial breakthrough. I urgently need help paying for my mother funeral service according to our religious traditions. I also have an outstanding bill of $2,900 PLUS $4500 budget for my mother funeral service to clear all my debts. I know I've done wrong for not managing my finance well. But Lord I know You are forgiving God, slow to anger. So please give me one more chance. I have being affected emotionally because of this financial crisis. It also strained my relationship with my family members including of my wife, children and siblings. I also received notice from Landlord. Please help me and rescue me from this trouble and burden. Grant my prayer request so that I will be able to stand up again. In future I promise I will manage my finance well. My hope is only on you. You alone is God and as stated in the Bible there is nothing impossible with God Luke1:37 Thank You Lord, All this I asked in Jesus Name, AMEN.

Dear friend in Christ,

I know this is kind of late, but I just saw your request now. Although I am not able to help you financially at this time, I do pray that God will meet all of your needs according to His glorious riches in Christ Jesus. In Jesus' name, I agree with you for financial breakthrough, favor, restoration, wisdom, and God's mercy and help.

My husband and I lost his mom a few months ago after she was seriously ill for several months, so I have some understanding of what you're going through. There are some practical steps you might want to take to get some relief from these expenses. First, you should definitely ask the nursing home if they will do a payment plan. My husband was admiited the ER due to stress while caring for his mom during her illness, and the hospital offered us a very reasonable payment plan. Some hospitals/nursing homes also have benevolent programs to assist with the patient's bill; you might want to inquire about this as well.

Also, in many if not most states, children are not responsible for their deceased parents' medical bills, especially if there was no estate to be sold. I checked this out after my mother-m-law died with $5,000 in hospital bills and learned that in the state of Colorado, my husband and I weren't liable for her debt. Also, when my father passed away with over $20,000 in hospital/nursing home bills, my stepmother was not liable for them because he had no estate (this was in Florida). She never even got one bill. You need to look into the laws of your state and find out if you are actually liable for your mother's bills.

As for funeral expenses, I hope that by now you were able to make those arrangements. My husband and I were concenrred about that ourselves, but through the hospice program his mom was in, we found a place that does cremations for as low as $300 plus the urn (his mom had no life instance either).

May God be your very present help in your time of need,

Julie
