Thank you, Thank you, Thank you for praying and standing with us. All praise to the Lord for a wonderful witnessing campaign in New York City this past August. There are over 2 million Jewish people living in New York City and 99.7% of them are lost and unsaved. 75% of them are secular with little or no knowledge of the Scriptures.
16 people were part of our street team (9 full time and 7 part time), and five people were part of our inside support team. We spent three days in training for the streets and how to share the Gospel with Jews and Gentiles.
All of the campaign team worked very hard. Days were long (9 hours on the streets daily, 3 hours at a time), sleep was short, feet and backs hurt, but the Gospel went out. Our inside team worked right along with the street team, day in and day out.
They spoke with hundreds of Jews and Gentiles. 18,000 people took tracts, 60 people – Jews and Gentiles, saved and unsaved – gave us their contact information for follow up. We are still getting responses via phone, letter and email from those who took tracts but did not give us their information at that time. Three Gentiles prayed with us on the streets to receive Jesus as their Savior: Motayam a Muslim, Omeika, and Andrew. Hallelujah!
We are following all of the contacts up with letters, invitations to our congregation, and offers to meet one on one to discuss the Bible and the Messiahship of Jesus.
Many believers stopped to talk and encourage us and some have Jewish friends and want help in reaching them. Some would like to be involved in our Jewish outreach.
It did not rain once when the team was out on the streets and the temperature stayed in the low 80’s with low humidity; unheard of for NYC in August. What a great God we have!
Rachel, an unsaved Jewish lady, took our tract and said “We Jews never gave Jesus up. He is the greatest Jew ever.” We have sent her follow up material. Please pray she will respond and be willing to meet with us. Mike, Igor, Colton and David are also unsaved Jewish contacts that we are following up and offering to meet with them to discuss Jesus the Jewish Messiah.
Other unsaved to pray for: Mohamed, a Muslim man from Morocco who told us that he had Jewish grandparents on both sides and wants to learn more about his Jewish roots. Ehab is also Muslim. Pray also for Carlos, Priscila, and Ashley.
Next year? Some of the team plan to come back next year for Campaign.
Maybe you would like to join us? Pray about it.
Iris is doing well. The Dr. is very pleased as the tumors continue to shrink and she feels better and better. Praise God! Continue to pray for Iris’ adult daughter Jodie and boyfriend Ryan to come to faith in the Lord.
Please pray for Manny, a Jewish believer in our New York Congregation, and for the salvation of his family. Pray too for Rich, a Jewish believer - also a member of our congregation, and for the salvation of his unsaved family, especially his sister Susan. Pray for the salvation of David, Marian’s son, and her daughter Carey.
Seattle - David and Peggy continue to lead this outreach, participating also in our recent NYC witnessing campaign. About 20 people attend their monthly meetings. They are reaching out to the 40,000 unsaved Jewish people there. Abe will be going out to help, encourage and train them and the group. We will also celebrate the feast of Tabernacles. Do pray that many of the unsaved contacts we invite will come to the meeting on Saturday, October 11. Also, Abe is trying to arrange to speak in one of the area churches on Sunday, pray for an open door.
George Gruen was a Christian and Missionary Alliance missionary to the Jewish people in the States for 28 years (1950-1978). In 1978 he left the Alliance to become the full time Director of an independent Jewish ministry, Truth for Israel. He continued his ministry to the Jewish people until his death on July 26 of this year. He served the Lord faithfully, reaching many Jewish people with the Gospel of Messiah Jesus for 64 years. He is very special to me; he was my spiritual “pop.” He led me to the Lord, discipled me, and trained me in Jewish ministries. We miss him, but we will see him again. Pray for his wife Jean as she will be carrying on the ministry.
