I just heard from my brother. He spoke to my stepmom last night, and she's frustrated because Dad does not seem to want to get better ("Just let me sleep" is the latest motto). He doesn't hold down food, pills or drinks, so they will have to put a feeding tube in. I know we serve a God who raises the dead and who can still raise Dad from his sickbed; I also know that his times are in God's hands. Please join me in praying for His perfect will to be done in Henry’s life “as it is in heaven.” I am so grateful that Alex and I were able to see Dad when he was in a good mental and emotional state! That was a priceless gift from God.

Thanks for your prayers, dear friends!

Julie

I just called my dad’s room and Betty picked up. He was sleeping, but she told me he’s somewhat better today. They gave him medication for the nausea, and he was able to eat some breakfast (he was able to go to the bathroom, which was also a big thing). So it looks like he may not need a tube after all. They did some therapy with him, but he told Betty it didn’t go well (she’s going to talk to the therapist to find out what really happened; it could be that it was physically painful and that’s why my dad thought it didn’t go well). So this was encouraging! She did put him on the phone and he tried to talk, but he was too tired to get words out other than a very raspy “hi.” So I just told him I loved him and am praying for him. I am sure it did him good to hear my voice, and to know that people care.

I pray daily for your dad. And for his medical professionals. It does sound like he's doing better. And I know it heartened him to see you! Sometimes little things keep us going.

May the Lord bless you and your family while he heals your dad.
