Today was Saturday. This coming Monday is me birthday. Mom wanted to take me out to lunch and get me something. Okay, I’m good with that as long as it gets her feeling better about life. She doesn’t drive anymore so I picked her up and went out. We ended up at a NOTW store. Love the store, but a wee bit pricey. I got a neat t-shirt and a new cross necklace. ( Thanks mom ! )

Well, after the cashier rang us up and paid and bagged it all, he asked me if there was anything he could pray for? That was unexpected and yet so awesome. I said yes and explain to him about me mom’s health issues and what she will be facing on her birthday this coming 17th. Mom was okay with that and I though he would pray in private or something. Nope, he came around the corner of the register and stood with us. He began to pray for me mom. In the store, out loud, in the complete open view of everyone, no shame. Wow, this was beyond words. He did what? Prayed in public? In a retail store? Wow! He prayed good and brought me mom to tears. Mom was moved and so was I. Mom gave him a big tearful thank you hug. I chose not to hug him, lol. His name is John so to you John, you rock!

I have prayed in public before. At restaurants before meals. At church in hallways. Even at a gas station on the way home from a men’s retreat. I see no shame, fear, or anything wrong with praying in public. If others are don’t like, they don’t have to listen. When you feel like praying, pray. Pray where you are because God is always where you are.

Wonderful, I was hoping/praying that you would see evidences of God's love for you ... I'm delighted that He chose this young man to be His hands/feet and that John was obedient to His will in praying openly for you and your Mom.  What a blessing!

Now we have this treasure in clay jars, so that this extraordinary power may be from God and not from us.

We are pressured in every way but not crushed; we are perplexed but not in despair;

we are persecuted but not abandoned; we are struck down but not destroyed.

Christopher,

Does this maybe change your mind a little bit about no one cares?  Obviously this young man stopped his work and spent prayer time with you and your mom.  It does appear that he cares about you and isnot ashamed to show it, even at a checkout counter.  Wow, I am impressed with this man.  I have prayed for people who asked for prayer, prayed with people who were in severe trouble and needed prayer, but I don`t think I have ever simply asked a passerby if he or she needed a prayer when there seemed to be nothing wrong at that time. People do need to know that we care, and what better way to show it than ask if they need prayer!  We just never know who is in need of comfort that can only come from Holy Spirit until we ask.  Very impressive check out clerk.....we need more.

May God continue to show you how much HE cares,

Charlie
