Can one person change the world? Can one act change the world? All it takes to change the world in one. Just one nice, unselfish, unacknowledged kind word or act is all it takes to change the world each day. One person doing one thing and moving on with their day. One.

People complain so much about how bad the world is, but how many of them really make an effort to change it for the better? People think they are powerless to make a difference and change the world. That they have nothing to offer the world. People say so often that we can not change the world. As if to imply we are too insignificant in power or ability to make a difference to have an impact on the world we live in. I absolutely disagree with this and those who say it.

What so many fail to realize is that change doesn’t have to be this dramatically major act or long lasting effect. You don’t need to find a cure to an illness or invent the next great thing to change the world. Changing the world can be done on a lot smaller and simpler level. Changing the world can be done in a simple moment in our daily life.

How often has someone said something so simple to you that changed your day or mood? “Good Morning” / “How are you” / “Can I help you” / “I am glad to see you” ... Words make a huge difference and can change the life of someone for that moment in time. Because we don’t know what someone is really struggling with, a kind word can change their world for that moment and make the difference. We simply don’t know but we can make the difference. And we never need to be acknowledge for it. How many times has someone’s simple words spoken to you changed your world for that moment?

What about a simple act of kindness. Like letting someone get in front of you as they are trying to exit a parking lot in middle of heavy traffic. Are you in that much of a rush to make that person wait for you and who knows others? Even if they don’t give you the courtesy wave, does it really matter? What harm or loss did it have on you to do this? How many times has this been done to you and for that moment, your world changed for the better? Hold a door open for someone. Help someone reach an item on a shelf at the market. Help get a few shopping cart together for the under paid super market employee. Marry guys, put on pants before walking out of the bedroom. ( Men’s underwear is not public daily wear. ) Any simple act of kindness can change the world for someone.

I think people have it all wrong about what it means to change the world. They think they need some special ability or power. That they need to do something major that will effect the entire world and leave a long lasting impact on society. Not the case at all. Most of us will never travel the world. Our world is limited to our daily lives. To that, our world can be changed for the better by a simple kind word or act from another. To that, we can change the world for someone else. Even if it’s just in that moment of time and we get no acknowledgement for it. Did it really cost us anything to change the world? How much did we really sacrifice or suffer to change the world?

If you want a better world, stop just complaining about how bad the world is and become the change. Let your heart change the world and value the changes other people have had on your world. Like the body of Christ, we all have a part and serve a purpose. Let the part you have and the purpose you have fill your heart and change the world.

Those who do not believe this is possible, take a strong, honest look at your daily life on any given day. You will see your world has been changed by someone’s simple word or act upon you they did and you never acknowledged.

My name is Christopher. I spend ( waist ) so much of my time being an idiot and doing stupid things that have negative impacts on people and the world. But, I still can have a moment in my daily life were I can change the world. Even someone as foolish as me can change the world. Why can’t you? ;)
