I have not posted a question on this topic.

I would like to know why it is that when a church begins to reach out to those in their neighborhood, that the cults and others come in and attempt to lure them away from the true Jesus.  Can some one please tell me what should be done?

The first answer that comes to mind for me is "spiritual warfare".

Simply put, the enemy does not want the church to succeed, and will bring in whatever obstacles they can to hamper what the church is doing.

The answer I would give is specific, directed prayer in this regard.  I know it's kind of a no-brainer, non-action-plan answer, but it's the first step.  Pray against the obstacles to evangelism in your area, and for the leading of the Spirit in what should be done next.

Indeed it is spiritual warfare. I think this is an area that it's not a needle in a haystack, rather, it is a field of haystacks with only one haystack that has the needle. Thoughts?

Gordy,

It's something that is happening in Mongolia. If you look at Acts 20:28-31 it shows that the situation is not new or unexpected. I think Paul's experience as well as what is written by Luke shows that it is normative for this to happen. Heresy is like wind in the trees, it may break some off but it also makes the tree stronger. Orthodoxy is clarified in the midst of heresy. In church history the times of heresy created opportunities for the church to develop the great creeds. Use it as a time to clarify and strengthen belief in the church. For evangelism use it as an opportunity to demonstrate love. It is easier to demonstrate the difference than argue the difference.

It has been a bit since you wrote your originial post, what has happened?
