Please pray that as my husband, son and I go to the SF Bay Area in CA tomorrow through Jan 3 that I will abide in Christ entirely. It can be difficult to visit unbelieving family members and there are a lot of family members there to see. I can get so busy and distracted that I hardly have time to pray or read scripture. So, please pray that I find a "prayer closet" there and can renew my strength as I will need to.

It is also a temptation for me when I arrive because there's so much there that we aren't accustomed to any more (good thing) and can make me want to indulge like all the ethnic food we don't have here (a weakness for us that we tend to indulge).

Most of all, please pray that my husband's 87 year-old mother who is fairly chair-ridden will be more open to the Gospel than in the past, if the LORD opens a door. She stands by a "collective consciousness" ideology which she has never been able to explain to me. Pray she will be fearful of death and will ponder Christ and that, mostly, The FATHER will draw her supernaturally to him without any interference by all the surrounding new-age junk so prevalent in Berkeley.

Thank you so much,
Candice

Thank you for praying Betsy. We are very much tossed into immense dysfunction, and l am just praying along the way. We had no place to stay since someone else was there so we had to get a hotel room which is pricey and we cannot afford it for a week. Since my husband's mother is the one with physical needs, we had to go to reduce stress for her. This trip was booked in August but the situation has deteriorated. My husband's mother's wealth results in numerous vultures circling due to total absence of discernment and lots of severely addicted. Several family members have created an unstable environment where her wellbeing is questionable. I am sure stealing is going on by drug and alcohol addicted caregivers. I prayed over her last night. She was receptive to that.

Must try to figure out rest of week or to go home since hotel is $300/night everywhere. i did not sleep and my son is angry at all the drunk folks including her caregivers. Upsetting but trying (me of little faith) to listen to the Lord any way He leads. Maybe this is just "casting pearls....."

Prayer for direction is needed as my son is angry that my husband "won't put his foot down" with the dysfunction. Feeling like I must keep silent. But can't blame my husband's inertia or my son for frustration. I am praying to stave off anxiety overall. Not sleeping last night is making it worse. My stomach is in a knot (oh me of little faith). Want my son to see all need our Savior; even those causing trouble. Maybe this isn't God's will or maybe this is a test and a taste of what is to come for our world.

Appreciate prayer.
Candice

.... Just read your 7:40 AM post... asking the LORD'S intervention in every detail of this situation ... will pray and keep praying as this is now been given to me to bath in prayer with my little faith... our little faith is okay... O dear sister... just before reading your post above was thinking of you, your husband and son...God knows each detail of this extended family dynamic and only He can make a difference... as He will and as He won't  Our Father KNOWS best and CARES... regardless all will work together for your good and to the glory of God... feel like I have a small wash pan of water... and a cloth... I'm to keep dipping into the water of the Word by faith and will be blessed with a cloth wetted by the Word to pray...     praying ....    thought came about the Lord going before you and bringing up the rear guard... basically The LORD is in front, behind and on each side... even if your thoughts and emotions are rattled His thoughts are firm and He will keep you  ....  Just got to go to  Romans 8.... to focus on Romans 8:26-39 and pray for you to be strengthened, and calmed by your Lord Jesus in the midst of this situation.... even if feelings wobble ... little faith is strong enough... It's 12 hours later and don't know what has transpired but God is on the believer's side.... God cover all that touches you and yours for His name sake and His glory and your good.... praying ....  would it be sensible to contact the Salvation Army and seek their prayer support and perhaps be strengthened and have prayer and people there praying...  Perhaps a CMA church family in the area...... excuse me for my rambling thoughts... back to praying...

Thank you for your prayers of encouragement. I already planned to go to church a few blocks away on Sunday. Most likely that The Sanctuary in Berkeley is the only "real" church of believers here or at least close enough to walk.

As I pray this morning, I am renewed. I will be in the word a lot today and will just let my son and husband go do all the running around. Praying for caregivers is a priority that needs solitary time. One caregiver talked my ear off last night. Maybe The Lord will draw her. Hoping so.

The Father and His son are still on their thrones. That is hard to see here with the sense that demons have taken the land. Been like this for decades but am so spiritually sensitive to it. It requires moment-by-moment prayer, and God graced me with a good sleep too.

Blessings,
Candice

Am honestly sorry that this is so distressing.  I was glad to hear you had a visit with one of the caregivers.  Many many times the best we can do is give a listening and understanding ear.  Most people aren't too interested in what we have to say but most like to talk.

Praying for peace and wisdom for you.

Big John

Hi Big John,

Thanks for being an encourager.

I have found that, in this family, if a caregiver is complained about, it is just mean spiritedness. The gal here for the last three days earns $100 (72 hours). I have to hold my tongue and just listen. She ought to be paid about 5 times that. But, I can't come here and say anything.

My husbands brother and his wife reported abuse and relayed some horrors to me. Why not my husband Lored??? A couple of weeks ago, my husband's 40 year-old niece was the caregiver (she is the main helper) and was so loaded on meth and alcohol she was yelling at my mother-in-law, attacked my husband's sister in-law and broke a couple of windows. I wondered what happened to he windows and notice a bad draft!! When police came, my husband's two sisters got angry when his brother' wife pressed charges. She fears abuse all the time. But, still, I can only pray. Things are just this way in this family, and no amount of intervening will help or change hearts. It isn't my place or my husband's place. We live in another state.

I just want to go home. This would cost too much to change. So, The Lord knows and I have to trust Him to be my escape.

It is humorous if it weren't so sad and scary. The city of harmony and all that this family preaches about peace and tolerance. What hippocritical, lying, mean and evil absurdity. Not casting my pearls here again.
The only caregiver is one sister-in-law who is no longer "allowed" to care for her is Mormon, does not drink, swear, is kind, etc. But, because she called the police, is disowned by my husband's sisters. She checks in since she lives next door. It is a zoo. I am not writing in anger or fear. Just bewildered. But, why should I be surprise? I am, once again, reminded by Gods grace over me in intolerable conditions

O Candice.....The situations you write of ... well ... these posting 'trigger' some inner workings  about the 'stuff' that I am powerless over with family that can be viewed as very much milder ... Will get to paying and looking forward to when you are back home too....
