I attended Nyack College in 1965-67, was a C&MA lay volunteer in Viet Nam in 1971-72, and am now on the board of directors at Inter-American School, a Christian school located in Quetzaltenango, Guatemala.

Inter-American School is looking for volunteer Christian teachers for the 2014-15 school year. All teachers must have a bachelor’s degree. Teaching certification is preferred, but not required. Spanish is helpful but not necessary. Volunteers receive a living stipend which adequately covers housing, food and basic living expenses.

IAS is a Christian school offering an English immersion curriculum based on U.S. college preparatory standards. All classes, pre-kinder through grade twelve, are taught in English.  Most of our 180 students are Guatemalan, however about 15% come from Europe, Asia, and other nations in the Americas. Our 2013 graduates were accepted into such universities as Georgia Tech, Notre Dame, Calvin College, Michigan State, and Fordham.

Here is a short video made on the IAS campus. http://vimeo.com/29278784
