On Saturday, our Alliance Women met at a local church, prayed, shared a word of encouragement from scripture, and then broke into groups to go door to door in the Bolomacote neighborhood. Several surprises: they were not turned away in any courtyard even though there are very few Christians that live in this part of our city; many said that they had never had the Gospel of Jesus Christ explained to them and they were glad to learn more; two men were fighting quite loudly when our women entered, but quickly asked the women to sit down and thanked them for the visit; one man said that he had heard the Good News twenty years ago when he was living out in a village, but never met a Christian in all those years and was very glad to give his life to Christ; another whole family prayed to receive Jesus as their Savior.

We are realizing that as our city grows, it also changes. People move in from villages or move to different parts of our city. We also see that people, even though willing to hear more about Jesus, would not go to the church in their neighborhood. For years, our churches have held open air meetings in church yards or vacant lots. But things are changing and we realize that if we are to see people come to Christ, we will have to take to the streets and get out where people are and go to them instead of waiting for them to come to us.
