I have posted several prayer requests in this forum for my dad (Hank) and am once again asking my brothers and sisters to pray for him. A couple of nights ago, he took a fall in the shower (he had been falling a lot during the past few months). He was admitted to the hospital's critical care unit and diagnosed with congestiver heart failure and chronic kidney disease. After more tests were done, it was also determined that he has a heart valve leakage and Parkinson's disease (this is why he was falling so often). Please pray for complete healing. As some of you know, he and my stepmom (Betty) are raising Betty's 15-year-old granddaughter, Shannon, who has struggled with chronic sickness, including asthma (she has been hospitalized numerous times). In addition, Hank and Betty are caring for Betty's adult grandson, Jordan, who is disabled and undergoing physical therapy. Betty, too, has health problems.

I have not been able to call my dad because he is in the critical care unit. He lives in another state, and I'm not in a position to travel there to visit him.

All things considered, Betty and Hank are in good spirits. They are deeply committed believers and love the Lord with all their hearts. Thank you for praying for this precious family!

Lord Jesus, I lift up Julie's dad to You. Please comfort and mend him Lord. Please bring Your complete sovereignty into the entire household. Please take upon Yourself the burdens and struggles they are carrying. Please heal and govern them under Your merciful and gracious hand that all fears and worries will be no more. Please comfort Julie too Lord and give her Your peace.

In Your Name I pray Lord Jesus,
Amen

In The Pursuit of God, A. W. Tozer writes, "Jesus taught that He wrought His works by always keeping His inward eyes upon His Father. His power lay in His continuous look at God (John 5:19-21)."

Ah, Julie, all of that is such a trial for your family, and I'm sure you'd love to be there to help.

I lift them up in prayer - all of them - to be a strong witness for Christ in their suffering - that an unbeliever sees and computes that they handle this all differently and turn to Christ as a result

Love, Candice

Thanks so much for praying, Esther - and for that encouraging reminder! Your prayers have been answered (I posted a separate update this morning). Dad was released from the hosptial and is doing fine (in fact, he said he feels great!). It's really a miraculous healing. It turns out he doesn't have Parkinson's but something similar that is less severe and can be treated with medication. As far as the kidney and heart problems, all of those are gone. It turns out he had become seriously ill after being treated with the wrong antibiotics at a walk-in clinic for an infection in his toe . He didn't realize what was happening and attributed his symptoms (sluggishness and unsteadiness on his feet) to lack of sleep. While he was in the hospital, the doctors were able to figure out what happened and get him off the antibiotics, which had caused heart, kidney, liver and lung problems (I didn't know this, but several spots were found on his lungs while he was in the hospital). He told me yesterday that he is 90 percent back to normal and is going to be fine. So the fall he took was really a blessing in disguise because he and Betty never would have known he was so sick and called 911. God is good! Thanks, everyone, for your prayers!

When I told my dad how worried I was about him, he said, "You never have to worry about me because I'm in the Lord's hands." :)

It is indeed, John! I am so blessed to have such caring brothers and sisters in Christ. Their outpouring of love was such an encouragement during this time.
