There are many explanations in Scripture. Glorifying God is one thing that is explained. Psalm 50:23 is one example. It states, "Whoso offereth praise glorifieth Me...." One of the reasons for studying God's Word is that it gives us many things for which we can praise Him. Luke 2:20 says, "the shepherds returned, glorifying and praising God for all the things that they had heard and seen...." If we are to glorify Him, we need to praise Him and thank Him for what we see in the Bible and what we hear from those who instruct us in God's Word. The blind man in Luke 18:43, ....received his sight, and followed Him, (Jesus) glorifying God...." Submitting to His Leadership is to glorify God. Here's another way found in Psalm 86:12. It says,"....I will glorify thy name for evermore." Honoring His Name glorifies God. Don't swear. Don't use His name in vain. Don't refer to Him in any way that demeans Him, such as 'the Man upstairs' or in expressions like "OMG.' One last way for today's article is found in Matthew 5:16. "Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father which is in Heaven." When we live by God's principles, His Light shines into people's minds and they see, in our lives, what God can do for them. When our lives and lips line up with Scripture, we give witness that glorifies Him. Selah! In the words of the Westminster Catechism, we are to glorify God and enjoy Him forever. This is the chief end of (or purpose for) man. Glorifying God brings great pleasure to those whose hearts prompt them to do what glorifies God. Thinker (Ron)
