I just purchased 128 A. W. Tozer teachings on-sale at CBD at 76% off the regular price:http://www.christian...ustomer_reviews

I thought I'd share in case anyone was interested. I love Tozer because he presents every topic through the perspective of the divine romance between God and man. Thus his teachings are great for deep spiritual growth.

Have a blessed day,
Lori

Thanks Lori!!! I just purchased that awesome deal. I chose UPS Ground. Should have it by Friday so that I can start reading this weekend if I could just muster up the self discipline needed for me to feed my spirit!!! I am simply amazing sometimes!!!! I mean, I can easily devote all sorts of time to my hobbies and never think a thing about it, but when I am ready to devote time to my spiritual growth, and I open my Bible, or a Tozer book, or a Charles Finney book, I start getting sleepy and yawning, and I wake up two hours later with my reading glasses under me (and crushed) and my book slid off into the floor. It looks like I am going to have to get rough with myself!!! I deserve no less!!!
But thanks for the 'heads up' on that great deal!!! I thought that I had most of Tozer's stuff. But this will be a nice addition!!!

My tracking number shows tomorrow as my delivery time. Ya know, I was thinking, although there is now way of knowing until we get our books, but I have (I thought) at least MOST of Tozer's stuff, mmany of the books where just sermons that he preached put into written format I am really hoping that there is alot of fresh material in this colletction. But then, it never hurts to re-read those deep spiritual lessons that he taught. So, I'll be happy either way.

Kevin,

I received my books yesterday afternoon. I've been really busy so I've only had a few moments to look through them. Thus far it is all new material to me. I started reading one section and I was just filled with delight. I thought, "this is why I LOVE Tozer." He was just going along teaching something in his humorous way and then mentioned something about the Lord as an aside--it was just a thought he had. Then I realized, once again, this man is talking about someone he REALLY knows. He made a comment about the Lord that was so sweet, and it was so obvious that it was personal knowledge that he had about the Lord's thoughts. That's what happens when we walk closely with God. We really get to know Him so that we can make comments like Tozer. Tozer spent 5 hours a day on his face before God. When we don't have time to do that, it's good to spend time reading the thoughts of one who does.

Blessings!!

Lori,

Having read your post and the subsequent exchanges between you and Kevin, I wondered whether you had had time since to delve deeper into the material you received. You mentioned that your initial perusal showed you fresh teachings from Mr. Tozer. I have access to much of his written and recorded material already, and wondered if you might share a bit more on the nature of the material that you received.

I, too, consider myself blessed to have been instructed in the Way by Mr. Tozer- much more than any living pastor or teacher has in my spiritual journey.

Thank you!

Mark,

I’m really sorry, but I really haven’t had time to read them thoroughly. I’m finishing up a semester of school this week and I’m getting ready to begin another on Monday. However, if you click on the link I provided above, there is a place where you can look through the Table of Contents. Perhaps if you peruse them, you’ll be able to see if you’ve already read this material. I can say that I have read: “The Pursuit of God;” “The Knowledge of the Holy;” “That Incredible Christian;” and “The Purpose of Man: Designed to Worship” over and over and I don’t think any of these books contain any material from them.

Here is an excerpt (hopefully it will be readable when I paste. The formatting usually disappears) from Volume One:

“I say that we have not been given up. That is plain from the Book of Genesis. Recall that the sound of God’s gentle voice was heard saying, ‘Adam, where art thou?”—and that voice has never died out!
The echo of that voice sounding down through the years has never ceased to reverberate, to echo and re-echo from peak to peak, from generation to generation, from race to race, continent to continent, and off to the islands and back to continents again.
The voice of God is entreating us. With everything inside of my beating heart, chastened and criticized by everything inside of my mind, I believe in the voice of God sounding in this world, calling men!”[1]

What I love about this is how Tozer always captures God’s heart—it is God wooing and calling men to Himself. Thus all of Tozer’s theology centers on connecting men to God, and I think that is what we should really be focused on. So, I agree that Tozer is the best teacher there is. I think if a new Christian were to take a Bible and then sit before Tozer’s teachings, he would have a walk with God better than most Christians!! J J Hope I answered your questions!

Blessings,
Lori

Lori,

Thanks for the follow up...I think I'll spend the money to get the material. It does seem that there may be content that I have not previously been exposed to. Like you, I am an adult student, and find my time for reading outside of my academic pursuits is extremely limited.

Praying that your upcoming semester is successful- due to the nature of my job, I must sit this next term out to focus on my work.

Blessings,
Mark

Mark,

Thanks for responding!! I like how you have described us as "adult" students!! I like that much better than how I usually label myself (an OLD student)! I really hope you enjoy the books. For me, they are so healthy to read after having to take in so much theological chaff (although the Lord humorously informed me that fiber is good for me). I pray that your work goes well as well. I am so looking forward to the day when school is behind me, and I'll be able to work full-time.

Many blessings!

I have now successfully jump-read (lol) or skim-read through both books. They appear to be all new material. Lori, I am SO glad that you posted about this. If you hadn't, I either wouldn't have EVER found out about them, and, if the Lifeway Christian Bookstore in Jackson TN didn't have them in stock, I REALLY would have never found out about them.
Thanks again.
And Mark, I would order them with a quickness. They are the real McCoy. I, like you, feel the exact same way about his teaching and preaching (which can be heard on SermonIndex by some old recordings that are sometimes hard to hear.
The Gospel that I hear preached at the local churches that I have attende are FAR different than what this man of God was teaching. I think that I will go with Tozer's!!!!!!!!!! Anyday!!!! God bless all of you on this wonderful forum.

I ordered several of the books mentioned, thinking I already had read them, but I have been pleasantly surprised. "Tozer Speaks" is a weath of information about the man and his relationship with the Lord, as well as lessons for the reader. The article on faith, and that we should not have faith in faith alone, is a remarkable comentary that demands reading, thought, and re-reading. Of particular interest and daily use is the devotional book, which I use daily to start my day with good, solid scripture and thoughts that just make my day.
God is so good and I continue to be amazed at the vast love He has for His man creation.
