One of the most consistently unrecognized realities is the failure to distinguish between what mankind considers knowledge to be and what God tells us that true knowledge is. Let me make a startling statement. We haven't begun to learn anything that really counts, until we start with God. He is the source of true learning. Certainly there is a practical knowledge that enables us to function in this world. However, this world is only a parenthesis in eternity. If we only know how to live here, we have missed the most important Truth of all. This parenthesis is the God-provided time in which to get ready for "forever." This tiny "blip" in forever vanishes quickly, with no possibility of further opportunities. Suppose that a person could earn every degree available on earth and died without knowing God, through Jesus. Anyone, who doesn't come to salvation, has played the fool to perfection, no matter how educated they might be. To fritter away this brief opportunity to receive God's gift of eternal Life is as ignorant as ignorant can be. Leaning on an outstanding human education that leaves God out is the greatest of all folly. No wonder Jesus, in Matthew 16:26, said, "For what is a man profited, if he shall gain the whole world, and lose his own soul? or what shall a man give in exchange for his soul?" Building our lives on any basis but God's knowledge and wisdom guarantees eternal separation from God. Eternal knowledge and wisdom are found within the covers of the Bible, beginning with the knowledge of how to be saved. For those who are born again, God has much, in His Holy Word, to teach you, for all of life and the world to come. Selah! "The fear of the Lord is the beginning of knowledge: but fools despise wisdom and instruction" (Proverbs 1:7). "The fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom: and the knowledge of the holy is understanding" (Proverbs 9:10). Thinker (Ron)

Amen and amen. I think that a large amount of world(human) knowledge can often hinder one`s approach to a meaningful relationship with the Lord. Once one realizes that he/she is nothing and knows nothing until there is a relationship with God the Father, learning can begin. One cannot know the Word of God by "head" knowledge, because it simply makes only interesting reading. I think we can all agree that Richard Dawkins is a smart man, but I think he has missed the boat when it comes to dealing with the really important things to be known(I continue to pray for him). The evolutionists claim to use science to prove their theory but true science does not exclude ANY explaination for an answer, and they automatically exclude any idea that includes God having any part of creation. A true scientist will always start with an open mind and from there gather data. To not do it this way simply proves bias and preconcieved notions of the answer to the question.
If one startsd with fear(reverential awe) of the Lord, the study of the Word is facinating and is alive from Genesis through Revelation. Truth is exciting!

Amen to you both. As John writes, "Do not love or cherish the world or the things that are in the world. If anyone loves the world, love for the Father is not in him. For all that is in the world—the lust of the flesh [craving for sensual gratification] and the lust of the eyes [greedy longings of the mind] and the pride of life [assurance in one’s own resources or in the stability of earthly things]—these do not come from the Father but are from the world [itself]. And the world passes away and disappears, and with it the forbidden cravings (the passionate desires, the lust) of it; but he who does the will of God and carries out His purposes in his life abides (remains) forever." Because today's Tozer devotional I read Jude. In verse 10, although the context is relating to false teachers, it seems to apply: " But these people scoff at things they do not understand. Like unthinking animals, they do whatever their instincts tell them, and so they bring about their own destruction." NLT

I was discussing some scripture with a lady this week and really having a hard time because she was blaming God for some things that kept her from knowing Him in a closer way. You know, satan is not stupid, he has a way of sprinking just enough truth into a person`s mind, and then comes through with a big lie that can confuse and keep us from a meaningful relationship with the Father. Oh that we could see just how big our God really is and how much He does love us. Some people actually think God`s plan of salvation is too easy, too good to be true, and must be a trick. I am reminded of a pest control agent that once told me that "99% of rat poison is actually good for the rat, it`s just that 1% that gets him".Satan is so good at taking the truth in God`s word and slipping just enough lie into it that it will cause death if we fall for his junk. Smart people fall for this stuff as well as ordinary average people. Jesus said for us not to complicate what he was saying, just accept it as a little child would be accepting and know that the Father loves us, and has loved us from before time began. He would that none should perish, but all should have life everlasting. Now that is very, very good news without a trace of poison.

Thanks, Charles!

The more that God's Truth and wisdom and knowledge fill our hearts and minds, the more easily we can identify and extract the poison before it harms us. Thinker (Ron)
