There are times when we are very hungry. At times like this, we may say to someone near, "I'm starved!" There is an empty, gnawing "feeling." The usual response is to do something about it. A good meal and presto, all is well! However, it usually doesn't impact us the same way in the spiritual realm. Our spiritual "senses" are dulled or deadened (if not actually dead). If some hint of our being spiritually starved reaches our conscious level, we smother it with activity. Fun, entertainment, our work, friends and other things furnish us with a way of keeping our minds off the great emptiness inside. When was the last time that we felt such a craving for God that it prompted a desperate appetite that must be satisfied? Ever been really thirsty? Has there been a time when you would give all you had for a drink of cold, clear, water? Are we hungry and thirsty enough for God that nothing will stand in the way of our finding Spiritual nourishment in Him? What would be our experience, if we set all else aside in order to be filled with Him? That spiritual hunger and thirst, that emptiness within, is our moment of opportunity. "Blessed are they which do hunger and thirst after righteousness: for they shall be filled" (Matthew 5:6). Selah! Have we been covering our hollow emptiness with spiritual "junk food?" Are we spiritually malnourished? Are we content to remain so? Thinker (Ron)

Thinker (Ron),

I think the church is (mostly) malnourished and has taught itself to be satisfied with good works rather than God. It isn't that good works are not good; it's that good works are insufficient without the complete empowerment of the Holy Spirit. Thus, the best way to do good works is to fill oneself fully with God. This comes through knowing God and by developing a deep intimacy with Him. Then He works through the Christian rightly to reach the lost and broken. As it stands now, the still largely hurting and broken church is trying to reach out to the lost who are more broken. A remedy would be to return to the arms of God where we can be properly reintroduced to His majesty, wonder and grace.

Blessings,
Lori

Thanks, Lori!

You are "right on" in your thoughts. We are in desperate need of a genuine moving of God. I believe that He is ready. Perhaps, He is waiting for some "hungering and thirsting." Thinker

I agree 100% about a need for a move of God in our churches, lives, nation, and the earth. During a meeting at a friend`s house the other night a discussion of national politics broke out and 2 very different sides were noted immediately. Man, this political stuff is divisive. A christian gentleman stood up and summed all this up in one sentence.....If we have an awakening and move of God in our nation, it won`t make any difference who is elected, if we don`t have a move of God and an awakening in our nation, it won`t matter who is elected. The discussion quickly became one of prayerful concern and an asking the Father for an atmospheric revival across our country.
It does occur to me that many of our churches are definitely "staved" for the presence of the Holy Spirit but don`t know it! We subsitute order of worship, activities, and bake sales for Holy Spirit and don`t notice His absence from our services
Oh Lord, please come and fill our need for you with what we need.....YOU.
I pray we all get fed and Holy Spirit increases His presence within us all.

Charles, it is encouraging when we learn of many, like yourself, who are fervent in prayer for a Heaven-sent revival. May the answer be soon. Thinker (ron)
