Again it seems I have a loved one approaching the end of his days on this earth...Of course I am not God so I can only come to this conclusion as an opinion from the evidence all around.i have been witness to so many over the years and I have never really struggled with this ..until now.I pray for God to help me help those in their last days most often all i do is listen and this helps so much. Many (I've worken in long term care over20 years)have no one to just hold their hand or stroke their head or offer a prayer.God has blessed me beyond measure and no not with material wealth ,although being an american i realize i am financially better off than 90%of the world, but God has saw me worthy even in my worthlessness to be an ear and a voice to listen and speak on behalf of those who can't speak up for themselves.I am so tired and a little weary from all the unending suffering and dying I have seen.I praise God that is good and just and loving and I know he will send comfort and help to me through the best and that is the Holy Spirit. This season I find myself in is hard really hard so prayers of strength and wisdom and calmness in this storm are greatly appreciated I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me....He is the only way I can

Oh Elizabeth. My heart hurts for you. I, too, have seen much loss in the last year. I understand the sorrow of your heart and the heaviness you feel. I think this is Jesus heart, and even all creation groans in anticipation of the redemption Jesus will bring. Until then, let His peace rest on you and carry you as you journey with this loved one. My heart is with you as are my prayers.

Prayers lifted on your behalf, and for those you so faithfully minister to.

I love Philippans 4:13 which you quote. I'd like to share it with you from the Amplified translation.

"I have strength for all things in Christ Who empowers me [I am ready for anything and equal to anything through Him Who infuses inner strength into me; I am self-sufficient in Christ's sufficiency]."

In my devotions a few weeks ago, I was reading this verse, in the NIV, and for some reason did a word study on it. That led me to go to various translations for comparisons, and the Amplified spoke volumes to me as I read through it. I think it so wonderfully captures the meaning, and I am amazed with the word picture of being infused with inner strength from Christ.

May you be infused with inner strength, ready and equal to anything through Christ's sufficiency.

Elizabeth,
My prayers go to you and our awesome God who is Yahweh, the LORD, the self-existing One who grieves and suffers when we do (Judges 10:10-16); He is Yahweh Jireh, the LORD who provides, makes provision, brings deliverance, and provides soul nourishment. When we come to Him, He satisfies (John 6:35), when we give to others as you are doing, He supplies our needs(Philippians 4:19). Your care giving is a fragrant aroma to your patients and to our God; He is Yahweh Rophe, the LORD who heals (Exodus 15:26). He will restore you physically, emotionally and spiritually (Jeremiah 30:17).

Elizabeth, we must remember that He is in the process of making all things new. He will wipe away every tear; there will no longer be any death, mourning, crying, or pain (Revelation 21:4). You are an overcomer! Cling close to Him and He will see you through. REMEMBER: Circumstances never test God's creditability or faithfulness. They serve only to test our understanding of His character and purpose. I'm praying Ephesians 1:15-23 for you.

Elizabeth, I too work in medicine and deal with some tough situations that seem to have no good solutions. Do any of us understand why some things happen? No, but we can trust that our Lord is in charge ultimately and nothing can be done without His blessing. I know that I probably just compounded the confusion and added to the questions, but that simply has to be the truth if we believe in the omnipotence, omnicience, omnipresence, and the soveriegnty of our God. This past year has been a really, really tough period of time for several of us and the questions often outnumber the answers, but just maybe there is something else going on here. I have been learning to pray(don`t EVER stop doing that),worship, listen, and wait on the Lord. Satan can attack us with grief, darkness, and utter deep lonliness, but even if these times are bitter for us, we can use them to reach out to God. I came to understand that God is everything and His love is so magnificent as to astound even the most callous men. It is OK to question and seek God on every level, but coming to God from a dark, lonly, broken place is so precious. His promises are so good and unending. His assurances are so sure and clear. Satan wants to use this time for self destructive behavior and thoughts, but you can have a victory over him here by using the time to study God`s promises and praise Him for His lovingkindness, His grace, and the fact that He loves you and has loved you by name since before time began.
Know that way down in Mississippi there is an old country doctor who is praying for your situation with every assurance in the universe that God hears prayer and He will respond to faith. God does love you and He does care that you hurt. He is the great physician and knows your most inner parts and how they are put together.
Peace be with you,

Charlie
