The work in bringing this useless life of mine as seen throug spiritual eyes and accepted practically is to bring it to complete rest in Jesus, that is before the face of God is tremendous. If I am made willing to bring my life which is wretched outside Jesus, before the throne of God then He will do the rest.
The quality of time gained if God stamps eternity on the eyes makes the hunger for God a thing worthwhile given more time.
The vine feeds the branches, feeds the children like a mother. It is the un-used-to-ness of ear, heart, mind and will, even of faith to encounter this unfathomable God that requres to make sacrifices in order to deeply meet him consistantly. Is the child of God willing to cry aloud to God often inside the soul for his help or is seems this too disturbing to the well ordered life?
Jesus seems to have taken his orders from the father being athirst and ahunger to obey the Father. If Jesus said "Come to me" he must have heard the Father say "Come to me" and so it is special to prepare for coming to him who resides where no eye can see but God reveals himself.

Hi Stefan. Welcome to the community. Your topic touches my heart in deep places. How do the redeemed wait silently on God? The idea of abiding in the vine has been something I have long attained to, though not as successfully as I wanted. I'm used to much-ness and many-ness, and taking care of my own soul. Sort of pulling myself up by my own bootstraps. And God calls me to the simple task of quietly waiting on Him to do this work in my life. To abide and thirst and hunger for that which only he can provide.

Thank you for the reminder to abide, to wait, to thirst and hunger, and to do as the hymn says, "Just as I am, without one plea, but that thy blood was shed for me, and that thou bidst me come to thee, O Lamb of God, I come, I come." Praise Jesus that He has done it all.

Stefan, pray and seek the face of God and read Habakkuk chapter 2 for how to wait and commune with our Lord. I see five steps on the issue of waiting on an answer from God.

1. Watch; watchtower: Prophets were watchmen or messengers of the people. Watchtower is a symbol of expectation. The watchmen notified the people of who or what was coming, friend or foe, blessing or curse.
ALWAYS EXPECT AN ANSWER TO YOUR PRAYER AND THAT THE WAITING WAS NOT IN VAIN.

2. Reprove: Sometimes we may ask questions that seem out of line in speaking to God. God loves us and wants to answer as He did in this case.

3. Write the vision.......that he may run that readeth it: This is not only for your benefit but also for others to prove that HE DOES ANSWER OUR PRAYERS. I have just started writing my requests/prayers in a journal and it has been helpful in reminding me that if I wait upon God, He will answer my prayers IN HIS TIME.

4. The vision or answer is ALWAYS in His time. Sometimes we are not ready for the answer and God has us wait until we are. When the answer does come, STAND BY, you will be blessed beyond measure, because you waited on God for the answer to come at the appointed time.

5. Verse 4 is talking about pride. I was a Chief in the US Navy and believe me, I was proud of my rank and position. The pride kept me from the many blessings of my Lord. I thought I could handle anything without God. Once I let go of the pride, God began blessing me. I am still young in the faith in Christ but am being changed from glory to glory. WAITING on the Lord is just one of the many tools that He uses to bring us closer to Him. May God bless you. I pray this helps. It did me. AMEN
