Steve here. I’m super excited to tell all of you brothers and sisters that in about 6 weeks, I will be on a plane bound for Japan. I will be working with 11 other students and a campus leader from all around the tri-state area follow in the footsteps of the disciples of Jesus Christ.

Japan is a very well known Asian country on the western side of Asia in the Pacific Ocean. It’s amazingly progressive culture of hard work and academia has allowed it to become one of the forefront economic and technological leaders in the world. The country is filled with a school of thought that believes in productivity and efficiency over spirituality. It’s no surprise then as to why more than fifty percent of the country’s people feel as if religion has no place in their lives. The remaining Japanese people either believe in Shinto or Buddhism. This leaves a staggering, statistical figure that less than 1 percent of the population in this country believes in a “New Religion” such as Christianity, Hinduism, or Judaism.

As you well know on March 11th 2011, there was an earthquake that hit Japan registering at an 8.9. Huge amounts of relief has been pouring into the country from all groups of people, allowing Christians the opportunity to provide not only relief to the locations that were destroyed, but spiritual healing as well. Our team plans to use campus evangelism, culture, English teaching, and volunteer relief work to reach out to college students in this nation that is in a vital need for Christ. We REALLY want to target the college community there because as a college student myself I know how Vital it is to develop your faith or even be introduced to faith during the college years.

Prayer requests:

1.That God will heal the broken country and people of Japan which will lead the nation towards a fast recovery.

2.That my own heart will be filled with the Holy Spirit so that it can grow tremendously in love for Japan and it’s people

3.That our team will be used by God, being the true harvesters called to cultivate and grow real meaningful relationships with the people in Japan.

4.That our entire team will be protected on our journey, from spiritual and physical obstacles alike that may be put in our way.

5.That our team will be able to edify, encourage, and affirm on another during our time in Japan so that we may all grow spiritually as a family in Christ.

6. That God will provide above and beyond the $4300 needed to go on this trip to Japan.

Please pray for me and I look forward to you being a part of this journey. I truly hope that together we can truly fulfill the Great Commission. I can’t wait to come home and tell you all the wonderful testimony your prayer has helped me to accomplish in the nation of Japan.

In Christ,
Steven Wu

Hi Steven,

Just wondering how your trip went?

I and another from my church went to Japan in May and were extremely blessed the entire time we were there. It was a very humbling experience to see the Church in action reaching out to so many in need. We're hoping to lead another team back in summer 2012. The need is still great.

Blessings,

-Tony
