IF ANY OF YOU LACK WISDOM . . .
This morning after church our son, Micah, said “I am only 17 years old, and I have witnessed more sickness and sadness than I thought I would see in my whole life.” Seven years ago, when we packed up our lives and headed to Burkina Faso, we really did not know exactly what God had planned for us. Our job description has included aspects of ministry that we never thought we would be involved in, yet each step of the way God provided everything we need to perform the tasks at hand.

Micah’s comment caused us to reflect upon the past few months at the Balkuy church—the death of the 3-year-old boy, numerous people who have fallen ill, the bazaar illness of a little girl last week—and the list goes on. We have written and asked you to pray for the sick and rejoice with us as new believers come forth. We are asking you now to join us in prayer for this whole area of Balkuy. Sickness is still abounding and death is lurking on many door steps. The church is hurting and seeking God for answers.

Early this morning the pastor was called away, another child came to church very ill, and chaos seemed to work its way into the morning worship service. Towards the middle of the service, a group from the church fled to a classroom and just cried out in prayer for the church and the people of Balkuy. Each and every one of them exited the room with little energy left to spare. Christmas is quickly approaching and the birth of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ will be shared with many.

I'll pray each morning for this church and the sharing of Christ to be fruitful!
Why are these children dying? What illness? How heart breaking.

I want to live my life so that every morning
when I wake up Satan says, "Oh, no! She's awake!

I know that a three-year-old boy died of malaria (or complications from the illness). I am not sure what the other illnesses were. Thank you for praying!
