I am new to this site and am wondering how do you make friends on here? Is there a way to scroll through people to see if I might have something in common with them, such as church, city, state, interests, etc.?

the best way i know is by seeing something interesting written in the forums and clicking on their name. from there you will see the profile screen and you can become 'friends'. there hasn't been a big demand for what you described in the past so it was never developed out... but by looking at the profile info of people replying to topics, you will see connections pretty quick. sorry, hope that helps answer the question.

I can believe that... when you get 2 replies to a thread and more than a hundred have actually viewed it!! lol
But hopefully people will start posting more thus friendships made alot more easy.
