Many of you in the past have prayed for my son Ben, now 26. He has been an RN in Lufkin, TX for a year. Some days ago he was assisting another nurse with inserting an IV catheter. He removed the old catheter, placed the safety cap, as per protocol, over the needle and shoved it into the wall unit into which blood contaminated items are discarded. When putting the spent catheter into the unit his thumb was pierced by an uncovered needle, about 1 inch into the length of his thumb. The box was not emptied according to protocol causing the box to be jammed by the spent catheters.



It is not known what patient with what illness used the ‘evil’ catheter. This means that Ben is now susceptible to any number of diseases, this is the long-term issue. The short term problem is he is now on an initial month long regiment of antivirals that are causing most discomforting side effects.



Prayer request 1: that Ben will not be stricken with an illness, the one on all our minds is HIV but various varieties of hepatitis and others are also highly dangerous and debilitating.

Prayer request 2: that Ben’s body will accommodate the medicine and he will have both peace of mind and body during this month.
