When will the Lord's people, who have the Scriptures and who know the Scriptures so well in the letter, when will they come to realize and to recognize that if truly they have been crucified with Christ, if they have died in His death and have been raised together with Him and have received the Spirit, they have Light in their dwelling? "The
anointing which ye received of Him abideth in you, and ye need not that any one teach you, but... His anointing teacheth you concerning all things" (1 John 2:27). When will believers, when will Christians, come to realize that? Why must Christians who have the knowledge of the Scriptures in the letter, run about here and there to seek advice from others on matters which vitally affect their own spiritual knowledge? I do not mean that it is wrong to get counsel, wrong to know what other children of God of experience think or feel about matters. But if we are going to build our position upon their conclusions, we are in great danger. The final authority and arbiter in all matters is the Spirit of God, the Spirit of the anointing.

We may get help from one another, but I do hope that you are not going to build your position upon what I say now because I say it. Do not do that. I do not want you to do it. I do not ask you to do it. What I say is: listen, take note; and then go to your final authority Who is in you if you are a child of God, and ask Him to corroborate the truth
or to show otherwise. That is your right, your birthright, the
birthright of every child of God: to be in the light of the indwelling Spirit of Light, the Spirit of God.

If Holy Spirit lives in each of us, how can two or more get a very different revelation? I’ll share a specific situation I’m going through in another post later.

This is not a passive aggressive question but my need for, I suppose, what the devo author kinda tells me not to do. Hah!

Well, with no details, I can only guess at what you are referring to but I completely agree with Sparks that we ought to work diligently to fine tune our own ability to receive from the Holy Spirit rather than depend on others. There certainly are many mocking spirits out there that imitate the Holy Spirit enough to send us off on rabbit trails. Perhaps that’s why we are allowed to test the spirits and to ask for discernment for ourselves. 

 

We all have our histories, our personal experiences and our perspectives, not to mention our own personality types. These things can come together to either help or hinder us from learning how to hear the still small voice on our own. 

 

In my case, based on my experience with a cult that I refer to as followers of Christian Mysticism, the religion of putting revelations, dreams, and perfectionism as the substitute god they really worship, I personally never trust someone else’s words of ‘revelation’ and I do my best to avoid that kind of spiritualism by staying as far away as possible from those who practice such.

 

Does that mean all ‘revelation’ is false? No. Does that mean that all ‘revelation’ comes from the one and only Holy Spirit? I think not. Thing is, Christ is our mediator now, He set us free. I have so many stories of people in spiritual bondage to Pharisee replicated religion that often leads to many completely rejecting Christ altogether. Even going to the dark side and actively declaring themselves to be atheists. I have a relative in that situation and it breaks my heart. 

 

I can’t, so I won’t, tell anyone else what they should or should not do. We are all so differently made, the best I can do is pay attention to what God wants from me and so He speaks to me in the way I can hear. This is likely not like anyone else can receive. But I do know when He says - do or - don’t do or - wait - because I am practiced at this. I know the quickening in my spirit. It’s an old familiar sensation that I am able to depend on because it has been proven over and over again.  

 

But, just to reiterate - my experience is not a template for anyone else, and furthermore I don’t think I’ve ever received instructions for me to give to someone else but then I never claimed to be a prophet/seer/mystic either.
