Please pray for protection and wisdom. My 83-year-old mother-in-law will be moving into this complex later this month, and we don't want her living near someone who is so destructive. Pray that God will restrain Nate from harming anyone or damaging any more property. Also, pray for his salvation and healing.

Based on your description, this definitely sounds symptomatic of a mental illness. If you have reason to suspect something you might try calling up the police and/or a local nonprofit (such as the National Alliance on Mental Illness) and asking what can be done. Nate may need your help and it certainly isn't worth waiting until someone is hurt.

I have dealt with adult behavior like this from people before. I have an older brother ( not blood related to me ) who acts very identical to Nate. You are right, the police won’t do anything without proof of a crime being or have been committed. My best suggestions to you and others is first to always stay clear and safe from Nate. Secondly, when possible, use recording devices to document his behavior and actions. Not only for criminal charges, but for mental evaluation suggestion. Lastly, continue to pray. There is a cloudy line between mentally ill and evil behavior. So hard to know which is which. Pray and stay safe.

I'll pray for Nate to hear God's voice through your husband's witness. May our Lord keep you all safe from any harm.
I want to live my life so that every morning
when I wake up Satan says, "Oh, no! She's awake!

Now we have this treasure in clay jars, so that this extraordinary power may be from God and not from us.
We are pressured in every way but not crushed; we are perplexed but not in despair;
we are persecuted but not abandoned; we are struck down but not destroyed.
