I just caught a few minutes of Undercover Boss. I have never seen the show before, but in this episode the mayor of Cincinnati, Mark Mallory, went undercover as a potential employee for Cincinnati’s City Works department. He spent the day riding in a truck with another worker cleaning up the remains of dead animals throughout the city. One thing that he said was how this was the first time he was able to really connect with the people of the city and that he would like to try to start doing this once a month. Without knowing much about Mark Mallory, the fact that he took this step has gained my respect. I believe there is a lot as that we can learn from his choice to be part of this show...

Here is a supporting article I found.

Having never seen the show, maybe I shouldn't weigh in on this, but I do hear people at work talk about it from time to time. As a show, it is a neat concept and lends itself to many "discoveries". I've wondered how the common people feel after learning that their big boss was there with them for a day or week, or however long it lasts.

Then, in reading your post, I got to thinking about something else. We as Christians have our "Boss" along with us 24/7, whether we are aware of it or not. And we realize that, because His Word tells us so. So, do we act like we have the Boss riding around with us all day? I dare say that I don't, even when making an effort to try to remember that during a busy, hectic work day.

You compliment this mayor for doing this in his city. How much more should we thank God that He loves each of us so very much that he doesn't just come along for the ride once a month or so, but abides in us as we abide in Him.

Your post does give pause for thought. Thanks.
