When I attend Christian Community Development Association (CCDA) national conference, I usually connect with a C&MA pastor or church leader striving to impact an urban community. With council approaching I am wondering if there are urban pastors/leaders and those desiring to impact the urban community that would like to gather together discussion? I have been focusing on Collaborative Community Transformation in the urban community.

Let's start the discussion?

The whole concept of Collaborative Community Transformation is to provide the church to be engaged in the community to provide wholistic focused ministry. Some of the language and books on being missional is what we have been doing in the city for 30 years. The concept of CCT is threefold...spiritual formation, new way of living, and mission approach.

Can you explain in depht the concept of CCT and also how this new approach is going to impact the urban church?

I really do not look at it as something new. It is what we have been doing in the inner cities for the last 20 plus years. I have just tried to articulate the foundational dynamics to build off of. The three foundational dynamics are: spiritual formation; a new way of living (primarily an incarnational approach), and mission approach. What I am doing is what I call I-Coaching (incarnational coaching) to walk with pastors in urban settings to impact the community

Having worked in several cities in Latin America as a missionary and pastor, now working in a district position with several of the largest metro areas and fastest growing cities of the US (Houston, Dallas, Fort Worth, San Antonio) I can attest to the impact that incarnational coaching can have on church planting and church health. Our Greater Houston Multiplication Ministry (GHX) is a great example of this within the context of North American ministry. Many of our Houston GHX guys will be at Council. Check with them about what this has meant to in their ministry. The interesting thing is that this is supported and funded by laymen who have caught a vision to impact their larger city not just their close-by-community.
There is also the Encounter With God Churches in several countries in Latin America which have used the concept of team ministry and incarnational coaching to establish growing, sustainable, reproducing churches that are impacting large cities and even countries.
See you at council.

Can we set up a time apart during the Council to sit down together to share more ideas regarding this topic? What do you think?
