learning to walk with God

This created a recognition that I had become one who was seeking god in the word rather than a relationship with god. Simply put, and I refer only to myself and let others decide if this refers to them, God wants me to scrap the work of the theologians and seek him only as I did when I first became a Christian. From Revelation: Remember your first love . . . .
For others reading and posting to forums: It has been a spiritual blessing to read your input in several topics this morning. Thank you and to God be the glory.

After more than 30 years of reading and studying the Bible, I got heavy into the commentaries and other teachings. I believe it was the Holy Spirit that inspired me to do an internet search on "Jesus is Lord".

I hear you, George. It's definitely more important to seek a closer relationship with the Lord than to learn about others' relationships with Him. But the operative word is "more." Just as I imagine you are spiritually challenged or fed by some of the testimonies you hear, I would challenge you to hear the testimonies of godly theologians and commentators who are fellow believers. I've learned much from my own study and time spent alone with God. I've also learned much from brothers & sisters who have studied and spent time with Him, and shared their insights with me.

He wrote me back these words that I will never forget. "Thank you for your emails and testimony. You have caused me to come to the conclusion that I have fallen in love with the word of God instead of being in love with the God of the Word."
I am very thankful for the insights of others. I am also thankful for their testimonies. (That is verified by my "book budget" .) However, to have a personal relationship with anyone we must hear them speak to us personally whether it is as we read their "letter" to us or that "still small voice" in prayer.
