So I just awoke from a strange dream. And I wanted to post it before I forget it so I'm using my iPhone to do this. Please forgive the typos!

So, my dream.  I was a college student on a semester abroad trip and was separated from my group. I had lost my cell phone and had no way to contact my team. As I was trying to get back to our hotel I found myself in the middle of some significant unrest in a crowd. Let's call it a riot. I was terrified and just wanted not only to get back to the familiar--I wanted to get home.

Suddenly, a club was hurled my way and I was struck in the back. As I fell to the ground I was descended upon by the mob. Beaten for no reason and feeling like I was in the wrong place at the wrong time, I felt my life ebbing away. "Why me," I cried. "What have I done to deserve this?"

and then in my dream I hear this,

    But he was wounded for the wrong we did;
       he was crushed for the evil we did.
    The punishment, which made us well, was given to him,
       and we are healed because of his wounds.

And then it occurs to me again. Jesus did nothing to deserve the punishment for my crimes. An angry mob siezed Him and best Him.  As he lay there on the cross, having those spikes driven into his wrists and feet, what was he wondering?

I praise the Lord for his sacrifice for me and that he allowed himself to be beaten, bruised, pierced, and separated from his home to redeem this lost lamb. And may I, by His Spirit, live worthy and honoring of His being wronged for me.

I am so glad that the Lord is still speaking to us today. Not new revelation beyond what the Bible has to say, but continuing to reveal Himself to us in personal ways so we can understand and experience His love in a richer way.
