What Part Does 'Sin' Have In Your Life?

Posted by Tkulp , 25 July 2017 · 525 views

I felt to make an effort to bring light upon an element of darkness, its power to confuse, cause believers to stumble and remain bound by 'sin'. There are many believers that have been taught and believe that they can never be free from 'sin' or the 'power of sin". **(Note below)

In Hosea 4:1 the Lord says that He has a covenant lawsuit against the people of Israel. "For there is neither faithfulness nor loyalty in the land, (Amplified) "or knowledge of God [from personal experience with Him]." In verse 6 He lays the destruction of His people to be due to a lack of knowledge; the priests and prophets were not teaching correctly and they had forgotten the law of God.

Here is what the Bible, specifically the book of James, says about sin and how it works in our lives.

A paraphrased idea of the first chapter of James tells us the following.
James 1:2 & 3
We should be experience cheerfulness, that is, calm delight, when we are aloud to go through all different kinds of experiences, which brings to light the type of nature that is really with in us.
We should have intimate knowledge that a testing; by implication trustworthiness, of our faithfulness or constancy in such profession, will work fully, that is, accomplish; by implication to finish, fashion cheerful (or hopeful) endurance, constancy!

James 1:12 - 15
Supremely blest; by extension fortunate, well off is the person that is able to to stay under (behind), that is, remain; figuratively to undergo, that is, bear (trials), have fortitude, persevere all of these times of and experiences of being put to proof (by experiment [of good], experience [of evil], solicitation, discipline or provocation); by implication adversity: for when he is approved he will get a hold of an outward evidence of your success in obtaining real life. This is what the Lord has said that He would do for those that love (keep His words and commandments for) Him.

When you go through these times of experiencing the draw and enticement of our desires that those desires come from God, because God does not have any desires or enticement toward anything that is worthless, that is, (subjectively) depraved, or (objectively) injurious. He will not place that enticement for worthless and injurious activity before an individual.

Every individual' heart and mind, is enticed, drawn or dragged into selfish, worthlessness and injurious ways by their own inner longings (especially for what is forbidden) entrapped and deluded by the world and Satan's deceptions!

When the individual allows those implanted selfish and worthless thoughts to stay in their mind, enjoying the pleasure of thinking and meditating on selfish, worthless and injurious daydreams, those thoughts will give birth words and actions that are a reflection of the thoughts and meditations. The resulting words and actions will give birth to death to yourself, as well as influencing those around you toward death.

James 4:17
So any person who knows what is right to do but does not do it, to him it is sin. Sin is disobedience or rebellion!

Any person that is sinning unto death knows it.

Listen to what you talk about the most. Take note of what you think about or entertain in your mind. Your hearts treasure is that which you spend the most time thinking about or talking about. Are your treasures of this World or and intimate walk with the Holy Spirit, righteousness, God's commandments and the Kingdom of God?

Jesus offers to those that repent, deliverance from that evil power at work with in the heart and mind of the selfish, natural man. He offers to live within those who trust and obey enabling them to have the power not to sin, but to live selfless lives that are bound to do only good.

Here are some additional resources and thoughts on what sin is in both worlds.

Do you really understand, or care to understand sin? Do you understand what the Bible really says about sin and sinners? Have you ever sat down with a Bible and asked the Holy Spirit to empty your mind of all the ideas that man has influenced you with? Have you asked the Holy Spirit  to teach you and fill you with His Truth?

1 John 2:27 As for you, the anointing which you received from Him abides in you, and you have no need for anyone to teach you; but as His anointing teaches you about all things, and is true and is not a lie, and just as it has taught you, you abide in Him.

Do you know what it is to have the anointing? Do you have the anointing?

One Biblical understanding of darkness carries the idea of not being able to see truth, because of error or confusion.

It is my opinion that this is happening in a major way, in our world today, because of the way society, both in and outside the church, are redefining words. Do you ever go to a Dictionary to see the written definition of what you are saying or reading? Have you ever compared 1800's definitions with 2000 definitions? Have you ever used a Strong's Greek and Hebrew Dictionary to see the meaning of the word that is being translated into your language, according to the King James Version of the Bible?

Please accept the following as a type of light revealing various elements of darkness. I have not separated one from the other, hoping that you will be open to the Holy Spirit to discern the difference.

Jas 5:19-20  My brothers and sisters, if anyone among you wanders from the truth and someone turns him back, he should know that the one who turns a sinner back from his wandering path will save that person’s soul from death and will cover a multitude of sins.

KJV Dictionary Definition

SIN’NER, n.

1. One that has voluntarily violated the divine law; a moral agent who has voluntarily disobeyed any divine precept, or neglected any known duty.

2. It is used in contradistinction to saint, to denote an unregenerate person; one who has not received the pardon of his sins.

3. AN offender; a criminal.

SIN’NER, v.i. To act as a sinner; in ludicrous language. Whether the charmer sinner it or saint it.

Noah Webster 1828

SIN, n.

1. The voluntary departure of a moral agent from a known rule of rectitude or duty, prescribed by God; any voluntary transgression of the divine law, or violation of a divine command; a wicked act; iniquity.

Sin is either a positive act in which a known divine law is violated, or it is the voluntary neglect to obey a positive divine command, or a rule of duty clearly implied in such command. Sin comprehends not action only, but neglect of known duty, all evil thoughts purposes, words and desires, whatever is contrary to God’s commands or law.

1 John 3. Mat 15. James 4. Sinners neither enjoy the pleasures of nor the peace of piety. Among divines, sin is original or actual.

Actual sin, above defined, is the act of a moral agent in violating a known rule of duty.

Original sin, as generally understood, is native depravity of heart to the divine will, that corruption of nature of deterioration of the moral character of man, which is supposed to be the effect of Adam’s apostasy; and which manifests itself in moral agents by positive act of disobedience to the divine will, or by the voluntary neglect to comply with the express commands of God, which require that we should love God with all the heart and soul and strength and mind, and our neighbor as ourselves. This native depravity or alienation of affections from God and his law, is supposed to be what the apostle calls the carnal mind or mindedness, which is enmity against God, and is therefore denominated sin or sinfulness.

Unpardonable sin, or blasphemy against the Holy Spirit, is supposed to be a malicious and obstinate rejection of Christ and the gospel plan of salvation, or a contemptuous resistance made to the influences and convictions of the Holy Spirit. Mat 12.

2. A sin-offering; an offering made to atone for sin. He hath made him to be sin for us, who knew no sin. 2 Cor 5.

3. A man enormously wicked. [Not in use.]

4. Sin differs from crime, not in nature, but in application. That which is a crime against society, is sin against God.

Baker’s Evangelical Dictionary of Biblical Theology - Sin

http://www.biblestud...dictionary/sin/

...The History of Sin. In the biblical world sin is, from its first appearance, tragic and mysterious. It is tragic because it represents a fall from the high original status of humankind. Created in God’s image, Adam and Eve are good but immature, fine but breakable, like glass dishes. They are without flaw, yet capable of marring themselves. Satan uses a serpent to tempt Eve and Adam, first to question God, then to rebel against him. First, Satan introduces doubts about God’s authority and goodness. “Did God really say, You must not eat from any tree in the garden’?” ( Gen 3:1 ). He invites Eve to consider how the fruit of the tree of knowledge is good for food and for knowledge. We see the tendency of sin to begin with a subtle appeal to something attractive and good in itself, to an act that is somehow plausible and directed toward some good end....

Gal 1:3-5  Grace and peace to you from God the Father and our Lord Jesus Christ, who gave himself for our sins to rescue us from this present evil age according to the will of our God and Father, to whom be glory forever and ever! Amen.

Jas 5:19-20  My brothers and sisters, if anyone among you wanders from the truth and someone turns him back, he should know that the one who turns a sinner back from his wandering path will save that person’s soul from death and will cover a multitude of sins.

Understanding Deliverance From Sin   - by David A. DePra

This is rather a long, but as far as I have read, I have not studied it, accurate understanding of the Word of God regarding Sin.

Here is a the main point:

" Christians don’t need to get delivered from sin. Christians need to stop sinning. If you are in Christ, you are already delivered from the power of sin, and you already have, in Christ, the power to obey God. Your need is to see the TRUTH of your freedom, and to begin living and moving in it by faith and obedience."

It is very unsual that so far I have not read anything that I majorly disagree with, or find out of line with the Spirit of the Bible. I have just discovered his writings and find them easier to read and understand than what I myself have written. It is not an easy task to truly and accurately communicate Truth. The Holy Spirit operating in both the speaker and listener is an absolute necessity!

If anyone finds anything in Mr. DePra’s writings that is out of line with the Spirit of the Word of God I would deeply appreciate knowing about it.

**Paul’s Thoughts On Sin, Righteousness, Obedience And Holiness!

Rom 6:17-19  But thanks be to God that though you were slaves to sin, you obeyed from the heart that pattern of teaching you were entrusted to and having been freed from sin, you became enslaved to righteousness.

(I am speaking in human terms because of the weakness of your flesh.) For just as you once presented your members as slaves to impurity and lawlessness leading to more lawlessness, so now present your members as slaves to righteousness leading to sanctification.

If I am not mistaken, this appears to be a progressive list, steps one through four.

Step one..  you obeyed from the heart that pattern of teaching you were entrusted to

Step two... having been freed from sin

Step three...  became enslaved to righteousness... , then... as slaves to righteousness

Step four... leading to sanctification (G38 purification, (the state) purity)!

Please feel free to add verses that may stand out to you about sin as you daily read the Bible, as I am doing here.

Joh 8:34  Jesus answered them, I assure you, most solemnly I tell you, Whoever commits and practices sin is the slave of sin.
Joh 8:35  Now a slave does not remain in a household permanently (forever); the son [of the house] does remain forever.
Joh 8:36  So if the Son liberates you [makes you free men], then you are really and unquestionably free.

It is really sad that most people that attend church in our day do not believe that they are FREE from SIN. They believe that as long as they live on the earth they are bound to sin. This is because of false teachings in the churches, including C&MA churches.

Another false teaching is that God does not see the sin in the lives of believers, because He looks through Jesus, who is considered to be our righteousness in a false and misunderstood way.
