We believe in prayer. It has been the foundation of the Christian and Missionary Alliance and the needed force in evangelism efforts. Prayer has also become central in the churches that we have planted in Burkina Faso. The Burkina Faso C&MA church has many prayer events including all night prayer meetings, monthly days of prayer and fasting, and calls to prayer when a crisis arrises. The Alliance church that we attend in Bobo Dioulasso hosts four or five prayer events in any given week. With the increasing problems of security in Burkina Faso, a call to prayer was given. All evangelical churches and missions met together for a three-hour prayer service. Every seat was taken with almost an equal size crowd gathering outside. Loudspeakers were set up so that even those not able to squeeze into the large hall, could participate in the prayer meeting. Our DNA includes the belief that God works in response to the prayers of His people. Our DNA includes the belief that as we cry out to the Lord, He will answer us and save us from our enemies, or from those who would hinder the spread of the Gospel. Our DNA includes the belief that corporate prayer strengthens the body of Christ and the individual Christ-follower. May we be known not just as a missionary movement but also as a movement of people given to prayer.
