Looking for people in a community that could be at risk has always been a part of our C&MA DNA. Going back through the old Alliance LIfe magazins to when the work first started in Burkina Faso, it was clear that early missionaries were involved in helping the poor, the sick, women, and young girls that were often overlooked and ignored or abused. This has continued as we reach out in the prisons, invest in handicap centers, open schools, provide medical screening, teach basic first aid and community development on the radio, and work with widows. Recently, another risk group came to our attention; young women leaving their villages and coming to the city to attend school. We are thankful that more and more girls are continuing in school, but it does come with risks if they do not have a clear understanding of God's will for their lives and the priciples of conduct that honor him. Schools freely distribute contraceptives and young men are only too happy to pay a young woman a few hundred francs so that she will follow him to a secluded place. Working together with pastors' wives and Christian women in our churches, we hold seminars for young women and teach them from the Word of God, encourage them to seek the Lord Jesus' will in all that they do, and to commit themselves entirely to follow Christ. Great Commission Women have helped to provide resources for these seminars and recognize with us that this is one of our trademarks, to look for people at risk in our communities and intervene to help.Attached File  Koro young women's conference.jpg   114.82KB   1 downloads

That is an important question and we appreciate your voicing it and reminding us of the importance of teaching all young people.
