Last November I went on a trip to Taccoa Falls, Georgia to recruit summer staff members for my organization. Me and two other friends had an opportunity to spend a couple of nights in a home that belonged to a family that was on vacation at the time. Assigned to my own room, I felt really compelled to spend some time in the Lord's presence. Even though I was alone in this room I wanted to be as intimate with God as I could, so I went into the closet to pray. My prayer was a familiar one: "God, show me what you have for my life? What are your plans for me? Even if it's in snippits or bits and pieces, just show me something!". All of a sudden conviction set in. I began to feel guilty about my previous request. In that moment I felt like God was saying "Seek my will because your will is MY will. What ever you go through to carry out my will is what I have for you. Whether it be joy, hardships, prospering, or even suffering, that is what I have for you". Ever since, I've been studying his word and living it out so that I may be assured that I am doing what he wants me to do. This is the type of lesson that can only be learned inside of your closet, in your bedroom, or wherever it is that you spend intimate time with the Lord.

The scriptural basis for this is John 6:38 - For I have come down from heaven NOT TO DO MY WILL BUT TO DO THE WILL OF HIM WHO SENT ME.

Hello,

I encourage you to read Simpson's Dec 5th devotional. It confirms what you sensed.

Fathers often want their sons to carry on the business they began.
Are we not to carry on the work Jesus died doing?

I try daily to not just relate to Jesus as my saviour but as my Lord also and carry on His work.
