I will JOY in the God of my deliverance! ...DURING THE STORM!

Posted by Tkulp , 10 December 2021 · 0 views

This post is from a Devotional that our Pastor, Pete Rose, texted our men’s Bible Study group. Followed by a couple of Scripture Studies that relate to the discussion in our Bible Study.

NOVEMBER 29
Though the fig tree may not blossom, nor fruit be on the vines; though the labor of the olive may fail, and the fields yield no food; though the flock may be cut off from the fold, and there be no herd in the stalls—Yet I will rejoice in the Lord, I will joy in the God of my salvation. Habakkuk 3:17-18
In Habakkuk’s day, there was an economic recession. There were no cows in the barn, no harvest in the fields. “Yet …” he writes. Oh, how I love that “yet” in verse 18. “Yet I will rejoice in the Lord. I will joy in the God of my salvation.” Where was his joy? In the Lord, not circumstances.
If circumstances are what gives you your joy, you can’t say “rejoice always,” because circumstances change. You might lose your job, your health, your friends, or your prestige. But Habakkuk said, “Yet will I joy in the God of my salvation.”
There’s one way to find out where you’re getting your joy. If it’s from your job, we can take your job and see if you still have joy. If it’s from your health, if your health fails, see if you still have joy.
The only joy anyone can have is in the Lord, because He never changes. Your joy can be threatened if you get it anywhere else. It’s not wrong to joy in your health, your job, your friends. But that kind of joy can be threatened. You need a joy which supersedes that. Psalm 16:11: says, “Thou will show me the path of life; in Thy presence is fullness of joy.”

The following are my responses to Pastor's devotional text.

Very good message!!!

Thank you!!!!

Now if I will only experience that joy in my life, my heart, when things don't go as I feel that they should. To have our Father's light show me "His" path and I find "His" joy in walking "His" way, when nothing is going the way that I think that it should!!!!

Not my way, but may your will be done Father!!!

In my recent search for a more intimate knowledge of Jesus Christ I came across the following literal translation of 2 Timothy 2:15. It is not my personal work.

I felt to share it with you all, skipping the study details, and getting straight to the heart-meaning of Paul's directions to Timothy.

The following is 2 Timothy 2:15 from original Strong's Greek definitions, and I believe, the intent of the Holy Spirit, translated into an English understanding of what I believe is the Heart Desire of God for His children.

"In the process of determining the accurate sense of the Word of Truth as revealed to man, Motivate and impel yourself Believer!!!  Exercise rigorous, determined, and consistent effort, employing and utilizing every resource, tool, analysis, and perspective available to you in the course of research!  In so doing, as a worthy workman, laborer, and obedient servant who leaves no occasion for accusation, shame, or reproach, you will gain the approval of Yahweh after His careful examination of your efforts." Further study on our Father's laborers, servants.

Power G1849   (Strong's)

From G1832 (in the sense of ability); privilege, that is, (subjectively) force, capacity, competency, freedom, or (objectively) mastery (concretely magistrate, superhuman, potentate, token of control), delegated influence:

Examples of the Bible's usage of G1849....

Mark 3:14-15  And he ordained twelve, that they should be with him, and that he might send them forth to preach, And to have power G1849 to heal sicknesses, and to cast out devils:

Here is what amazed me!! This is the very same Greek word that  Jesus used in the following parable.

Mark 13:32-36
But of that day and that hour knoweth no man, no, not the angels which are in heaven, neither the Son, but the Father.

Take ye heed, watch and pray: for ye know not when the time is. For the Son of man is as a man taking a far journey, who left his house, and gave authority G1849 to his servants, and to every man his work, and commanded the porter to watch.

Watch ye therefore: for ye know not when the master of the house cometh, at even, or at midnight, or at the cockcrowing, or in the morning:

Lest coming suddenly he find you sleeping.

I was reminded of the parable of the talents. Was this a power of miracles also????

G1849 is not found in Matthew. Matthew uses the English word "ability G1411".

Matthew 25:15  And unto one he gave five talents, to another two, and to another one; to every man according to his several ability G1411; and straightway took his journey.

Ability G1411

G1411 - From G1410; force (literally or figuratively); specifically miraculous power (usually by implication a miracle itself):

Virtue G1411

Mark 5:28-30  For she said, If I may touch but his clothes, I shall be whole.

And straightway the fountain of her blood was dried up; and she felt in her body that she was healed of that plague.

And Jesus, immediately knowing in himself that virtue G1411 had gone out of him, turned him about in the press, and said, Who touched my clothes?

And here the two Greek words. G1849 and G1411 when they are used together translated into English as authority and power!!!!

Authority G1849 and Power G1411

Luke 4:36  And they were all amazed, and spake among themselves, saying, What a word is this! for with authority G1849 and power G1411 he commandeth the unclean spirits, and they come out.

Luke 9:1  Then he called his twelve disciples together, and gave them power G1411 and authority G1849 over all devils, and to cure diseases.
