Have you been Stranded, Living a Delusion?

Thousands of people get stranded after they have embarked on the great voyage of holiness because they have depended upon the experience rather than on the Author of it. They had supposed that they were thoroughly and permanently delivered from all sin, and in the ecstasy of their first experience they imagined that they never would be tried and tempted as before.

When, therefore, they step out into the actual facts of Christian life and find themselves failing and falling, they are astonished and perplexed, and they conclude that they must have been mistaken in their experience. Then they make a new attempt at the same thing, and again fall, until at last, worn out with the experiment, they conclude that the experience is a delusion, or at least that it was never intended for them. Thus they fall back into the old way, and their last state is worse than the first.

Men and women today need to know not sanctification as a state but Christ as a living Person.

Lord Jesus, give me Thy heart, Thy faith, Thy life, Thyself.

I the Lord, the first, and with the last —Isaiah 41:4

Things have changed a good bit since Simpson and Tozer's days. Most for the worse, especially in the church. They both understood the need for the divine influence in every true Christians life, in order to produce true and lasting holiness. The need for an intimate relationship with the Father, the He longs to have with His obedient children.

Today, I believe, that the truth is that most pastors are preaching and teaching a false faith.

A "faith" that is not faithful. A faith that needs no fruit or evidence of its reality. As James says in his letter, faith without any evidence is dead, worthless!

Really as A.B. Simpson says above it is worse than worthless, " last state is worse than the first". They are like the dog that returns to eat its vomit, or the pig that is cleaned only to return to its muddy mud hole!

People are taught to presume so much of their 'Christianity'. I want to make sure you understand 'Presumption'! Noah Webster defines it as " 1. Supposition of the truth or real existence of something without direct or positive proof of the fact, but grounded on circumstantial or probable evidence which entitles it to belief."
"3. Blind or headstrong confidence; unreasonable adventurousness; a venturing to undertake something without reasonable prospect of success, or against the usual probabilities of safety; presumptuousness. 4. Arrogance. He had the presumption to attempt to dictate to the council."

...and probably the most applicable...

"5. Unreasonable confidence in divine favor."

Yes, to Noah Webster's understanding it could be restated.... "Unreasonable confidence in 'Grace'." Noah Webster defines 'grace' as 'divine favor'.

The overwhelming teaching in churches is about a "false", "dirty" grace. A grace that covers sin rather than sets free from the power of sin. Freedom from the power of sin allows the individual to freely live, serving the Holy Spirit dwelling with in, rather than serving the flesh, the old selfish nature that is supposed to be dead.

Another potential problem arises when the Holy Spirit comes in. It is illustrated in the parable of the 10 Virgins. There were 5 foolish virgins that did not maintain the supply of the oil of the Holy Spirit. The Holy Spirit must be maintained in order to feed the Light in our lives!

We must obey! We must yield our members to righteousness rather than disobedience and selfishness.

In order to have the strength to obey we must feed and exercise at the table of God and Holiness!

If you are feeding at the table of the world, at all, you will have a weakened spiritual immune system. You WILL get spiritually sick! You will not always have the strength to overcome Satan's fiery darts.

1 John 2:15 Do not love the world or anything in the world. If anyone loves the world, the love of the Father is not in him.

Romans 12:2
Do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to discern what is the good, pleasing, and perfect will of God.

James 1:27
Pure and undefiled religion before our God and Father is this: to care for orphans and widows in their distress, and to keep oneself from being polluted by the world.

James 4:4
You adulteresses! Do you not know that friendship with the world is hostility toward God? Therefore, whoever chooses to be a friend of the world renders himself an enemy of God.

Paul Harvey was he a prophet as he describes how Satan might destroy a "Christian" Nation in 1964?

Are you like the frog in the warm water of the world, become very comfortable while Satan has slowly turned up the heat destroying your purity and holiness?

Will you experience eternal death in Satan's worldly heat or will you shake off the lethargy and jump out of the worldly influence to gain eternal Life?

The oldest genuine Paul Harvey version of this piece we’ve found so far appeared in his newspaper column in 1964: from Snoops.com

If I Were the Devil
If I were the Prince of Darkness I would want to engulf the whole earth in darkness.
I’d have a third of its real estate and four-fifths of its population, but I would not be happy until I had seized the ripest apple on the tree.
So I should set about however necessary, to take over the United States.
I would begin with a campaign of whispers.
With the wisdom of a serpent, I would whispers to you as I whispered to Eve, “Do as you please.”
To the young I would whisper “The Bible is a myth.” I would convince them that “man created God,” instead of the other way around. I would confide that “what is bad is good and what is good is square.”
In the ears of the young married I would whisper that work is debasing, that cocktail parties are good for you. I would caution them not to be “extreme” in religion, in patriotism, in moral conduct.
And the old I would teach to pray — to say after me — “Our father which are in Washington.”
Then I’d get organized.
I’d educate authors in how to make lurid literature exciting so that anything else would appear dull, uninteresting.
I’d threaten TV with dirtier movies, and vice-versa.
I’d infiltrate unions and urge more loafing, less work. Idle hands usually work for me.
I’d peddle narcotics to whom I could, I’d sell alcohol to ladies and gentlemen of distinction, I’d tranquilize the rest with pills.
If I were the Devil, I would encourage schools to refine young intellects, but neglect to discipline emotions; let those run wild.
I’d designate an atheist to front for me before the highest courts and I’d get preachers to say, “She’s right.”
With flattery and promises of power I would get the courts to vote against God and in favor of pornography.
Thus I would evict God from the courthouse, then from the schoolhouse, then from the Houses of Congress.
Then in his own churches I’d substitute psychology for religion and deify science.
If I were Satan I’d make the symbol of Easter an egg
And the symbol of Christmas a bottle.
If I were the Devil I’d take from those who have and give to those who wanted until I had killed the incentive of the ambitious. Then my police state would force everybody back to work.
Then I would separate families, putting children in uniform, women in coal mines and objectors in slave-labor camps.
If I were Satan I’d just keep doing what I’m doing and the whole world go to hell as sure as the Devil.

I read the following verses this morning and felt to include them. They are a reality that I would consider not to be popular in the ministry of our culture.

This is from the Amplified Bible.

1John 3:5  You know that He (Jesus) appeared in visible form and became Man to take away [upon Himself] sins, and in Him there is no sin [essentially and forever].

1John 3:6  No one who abides in Him [who lives and remains in communion with and in obedience to Him--deliberately, knowingly, and habitually] commits (practices) sin. No one who [habitually] sins has either seen or known Him [recognized, perceived, or understood Him, or has had an experiential acquaintance with Him].

1John 3:7  Boys (lads), let no one deceive and lead you astray. He who practices righteousness [who is upright, conforming to the divine will in purpose, thought, and action, living a consistently conscientious life] is righteous, even as He is righteous.

1John 3:8  [But] he who commits sin [who practices evildoing] is of the devil [takes his character from the evil one], for the devil has sinned (violated the divine law) from the beginning. The reason the Son of God was made manifest (visible) was to undo (destroy, loosen, and dissolve) the works the devil [has done].

1John 3:9  No one born (begotten) of God [deliberately, knowingly, and habitually] practices sin, for God's nature abides in him [His principle of life, the divine sperm, remains permanently within him]; and he cannot practice sinning because he is born (begotten) of God.

1John 3:10  By this it is made clear who take their nature from God and are His children and who take their nature from the devil and are his children: no one who does not practice righteousness [who does not conform to God's will in purpose, thought, and action] is of God; neither is anyone who does not love his brother (his fellow believer in Christ).

Days of Heaven on Earth

God is now aiming to reproduce in us the pattern which has already appeared in Jesus Christ, the Son of God. The Christian life is not an imitation of Christ, but a direct new creation in Christ, and the union with Christ is so complete that He imparts His own nature to us and lives His own life in us. This, then, is not an imitation but simply the outgrowth of the nature implanted within.

We live Christlike because we have the Christ-life. God is not satisfied with anything less than perfection. He required that from His Son. He requires it from us, and He does not, in the process of grace, reduce the standard, but He brings us up to it. He does not let down the righteousness of the law, but He requires of us a righteousness that far exceeds the righteousness of the scribes and Pharisees, and then He imparts it to us. He counts us righteous in sanctification, and He says of the new creation, He that doeth righteousness is righteous, even as he is righteous (I John 3:7).

Lord, live out Thy very life in me.

Even as he is pure1 John 3:3
