Pastor - Please Reconsider

These were the remarks made by President Obama this weekend. “Today marks the 38th anniversary of Roe v. Wade, the Supreme Court decision that protects women’s health and reproductive freedom, and affirms a fundamental principle: that government should not intrude on private family matters. I am committed to protecting this constitutional right. I also remain committed to policies, initiatives, and programs that help prevent unintended pregnancies, support pregnant women and mothers, encourage healthy relationships, and promote adoption. And on this anniversary, I hope that we will recommit ourselves more broadly to ensuring that our daughters have the same rights, the same freedoms, and the same opportunities as our sons to fulfill their dreams.” The President could not have made a stronger statement in support of a mother’s right to kill her unborn child. The irony of his unequivocal support for state sanctioned child killing is that recently New York City released a study showing that 87,275 unborn babies were killed by abortion in NYC in 2009. That is 41% of all viable pregnancies. Of that number 40,798 were non-hispanic blacks, a startling 47% of all abortions. The New York Sun reported that, “In 2009, far more African-American women had abortions (40,798) than births (27,405) for an abortion rate of 60%. Among non-Hispanic black teen-agers, there were 2,791 abortions for every 1,000 live births in 2009 — a 74% abortion rate.” Black genocide continues, apparently with the full support of America’s first African American president. The targeting of the African American community by the abortion cartel continues unabated. (See www.maafa21com; www.protectingblacklife.org & www.toomanyaborted.com.) As I said in a Sanctity of Human Life Sunday message yesterday, “From both a legal and moral perspective, the central issue in the abortion debate is not “women’s rights” but “human rights - civil rights” [of the unborn]. You cannot extend to a woman the right to kill her unborn child, as the [Supreme] Court has done, without, at the same time, denying her child the right to live.” Mr. President, that is the moral issue you have sidestepped in your endorsement of legalized abortion, at the cost of over 3,000 unborn babies a day. Satan, the architect of abortion (John 8:44) continues to steal, kill and destroy human life. Statistically, in government endorsed abortion, he has found the most effective instrument yet, with which to take human life. Let us be unrelenting in our prayer for President Obama, his Cabinet, legislators, judges and others in authority over us (1 Timothy 2:1-2) and boldly proclaim the Gospel. I also said yesterday, “Ultimately, the gospel of Jesus Christ it the solution to America’s abortion crisis. Innocent blood has polluted the land and profaned the name of the Lord, but there is a greater blood shed at Mount Calvary that can transform the heart of a mother so she will choose life for her child, and can cleanse the guilty, forgive, heal and restore those involved in abortion. What America needs to hear is God’s truth about abortion wrapped in the grace of the Lord Jesus Christ.” That is why pastors should not be intimidated to speak the truth about abortion in the context of the gospel. When we fail to do so, are we not denying the efficacy of the cross to deal with the sin of abortion? Rather than remain silent, the pastors of America should be jumping at the chance to apply the life changing power of the shed blood and resurrection of Jesus Christ to the greatest moral crisis in America's history. I agree with Pastor Flip Benham, head of Operation Save America, who last week released this statement, “Abortion will come to an end, when the Church of Jesus Christ makes up her mind it will come to an end – not a second sooner. The responsibility for ending abortion in America rests squarely upon the shoulders of the Church of Jesus Christ.” Let us repent of our silence, and the pride, fear, timidity, or any other obstacle we have allowed to hinder us from proclaiming God’s remedy for America’s holocaust. The future of America depends on it. (You can hear my message, “The Sanctity of the Unborn” given January 23 at Riverside Christian Fellowship online at: http://www.954church.../media/sermons.)
