September Newsletter: Reaching Muslims, Jewish People and Gentiles in NYC 8/15

SEPTEMBER 2015 QUARTERLY NEWSLETTER

Dear Praying Friends,
Thank you for sharing the burden of reaching the Jewish people with the Gospel. “…Since we have that same spirit of faith, we also believe and therefore speak, because we know that the one who raised the Lord Jesus from the dead will also raise us with Jesus and present us with you to himself. All this is for your benefit, so that the grace that is reaching more and more people may cause thanksgiving to overflow to the glory of God.” 2 Cor. 4:13b-15

C&MA Council Contact Results in Jewish Believer – Abe met a pastor friend at our C&MA Council in Long Beach, CA in May. Paul asked “what could one of my parishioners use to witness to Mr. T, a Jewish businessman?” Abe gave him a book written by a Jewish lawyer who came to faith in Messiah Jesus “A Lawyer’s Case for God”. He also gave Paul some of our tracts for Jewish people. Arriving home, Paul gave the material to the parishioner desiring to witness who in turn gave it to Mr. T. This Jewish contact read everything - and then prayed to receive Jesus as his Messiah and Savior! Praise God! Pray for Mr. T. to grow in the Lord and for the salvation of his family.

NYC Witnessing Campaign – God answered your prayers! Fifteen people participated in our street witnessing campaign, and five served on our inside team. Our team was from all over: Washington state; Georgia, Pennsylvania, New Jersey, New York and Hong Kong. Kim, Abe’s assistant, covered many bases including preparing three meals a day for 15-20 people for 10 days.
Weather: The first two days of our campaign the temperature was in the high 90’s with high humidity. The team was faithful being on the streets up to 10 hours encompassing three shifts daily. At the least, it was physically draining. The weather report was that the temperature would go higher, breaking records. We sent out an urgent prayer request to our prayer warriors. The next day the temperature dropped 15 degrees to 82 and never went above 85 the rest of the week. Rain was predicted for Thursday and Friday. Again we called for prayer. Again God answered. It rained Wednesday night after we finished for the day. Then the rain stopped at 6:00 am Thursday. Our day on the street started at 7:00 am. It did not rain the rest of the week. What a mighty God we serve!
Contacts: The team gave out 15,000 tracts, got 40 contacts (names and addresses) of Jews and Gentiles, saved and unsaved, who want to hear more about Jesus and our ministry. Seven people prayed with our team to repent of sins and receive Jesus as their Messiah and Savior. Five of them are Gentiles that we have followed up and are trying to connect them with an Alliance church in their area. Two of them were young Jewish ladies from Tel Aviv, Israel – Jude and Janis. We have passed their contact information on to Jewish believers in Israel to follow up.
Pray that the enemy will not be able to steal the seed and they will grow in the Lord. Please pray for new believers: Jude and Janis Jewish from Israel; Aiqin, Patrick, Jeff, Marqin, Michael, Gentiles from New York City; Pray for Unsaved Jewish contacts: Paulette, Ethan, Benyamin, Ruth.

Seattle Fremont Fair June 2015: David and Peggy, who lead our Seattle outreach, plus Abe, Jay and Richard, from our New York City Messianic Jewish congregation, Messiah’s Lighthouse, served in the Seattle Fair witnessing campaign. Over 50,000 people came to the fair over two days during which we spent 20 hours talking to people, and handing out literature declaring Jesus the Jewish Messiah. 26 new contacts were received. They are Jews, Gentiles, believers, unbelievers; and people with Jewish friends who want help in witnessing to them. One Gentile man, Anton, prayed to receive Jesus! Hallelujah! Please pray for these contacts. Bryan - a Gentile believer with a heart for Jewish people - is from New Jersey and works in New York City at Wall St. He was in Seattle on business, decided to come to the fair, saw our booth and asked for help in reaching Wall St. with the Gospel, and especially Jewish people. Abe met with him at Wall St when he got back from Seattle and will offer training in Jewish evangelism, resources and assistance. Amazing: he is from New Jersey; works in New York City; travels to Seattle; finds us at the fair; and wants help in reaching Jewish people with the Gospel! Abe is working in New York City and is a missionary to Jewish people. God arranges these things. Praise the Lord!

Rosh Hashanah, the Jewish New Year of 5766 begins at sundown September 13, also known as the Feast of Trumpets. Millions of Jews around the world will celebrate Rosh Hashanah. For ten days people will examine themselves and think of all the things they did wrong throughout the year, and prepare themselves for Yom Kippur “The Day of Atonement.” L’shana Tova Tika Teyvu! “May you be inscribed for a good year!” This is our traditional Jewish greeting as we approach a new year in the Jewish calendar.
Yom Kippur, the Day of Atonement begins at sundown September 22 and goes until sundown the next day September 23. On this day Jewish people around the world will fast and pray and confess their sins in the synagogues in hopes that God will hear their prayers and forgive their sins.
Sukkot, the Feast of Tabernacles begins at sundown on September 27 and goes for eight days and ends at sundown on October 5. This Commemorates the time when our people wandered in the wilderness for 40 years after coming out of slavery in Egypt. They lived in temporary shelters or booths during that time. It also is the time of the fall harvest, and is a joyous festival.
Connect with your Jewish family, friends and neighbors during this time of year and let them know you care. Simple things, such as a delivery of apples and honey in a basket on Rosh Hashanah are a thoughtful gift. On Sukkot, harvest-themed items would be appropriate. Let your contacts know that you pray for the peace of Jerusalem [Psalm 122:6]!

Messiah’s Lighthouse Congregation - We continue to pray and search for a meeting site that will meet our needs and enable us to reach out to the Jewish community. Please pray we will find the Lords’ site and hopefully soon.
