Start a Fire!

Starting fires ... I'm a fan of "Dual Survivor." Doubtfully, I'll be stranding in Brazil's Pantanal swamps or lost at sea in a leaky raft, but it's cool to vicariously live on the edge with Dave and Cody! To me, the show's hero is Dave - not because of his pigtails, or minimalist barefoot lifestyle, but because of his fire starting expertise. The guy can 'make' fire from anything, in any situation!

We need ‘fire-starters’! Not the troublesome guys recklessly lighting brush fires. We need fire-starters who are catalyst people, keeping the path lit for us to stay ‘on mission’ and ‘on task’ with innovation, keeping the fires hot for what God is passionate!

From Genesis, past Noah and Abraham, throughout Israel’s history to Christ’s challenge to the early disciples and the Church at-large...God is passionate to see people of all nations see the Light and embrace His Salvation. This is seen, fruitfully, in Revelation chapters 5 and 7 (among other places). Choirs from every tribe, language, nation, people group...they are all there! Proof that John 3:16 is true - He does so love the WORLD of people, that His salvation must be made known!

Here’s a fire-starter:

There are nearly 900,000 international students studying in the US this year. That’s almost a million people! Most of them come from what many Christians refer to as ‘creative access countries’.

Fewer than 20% of these international students will even visit a Christian church - of any flavor - while studying in the US.

Nearly all of these international guests have no idea of what Christmas and Easter are really all about, nor have seen or read a Bible, even fewer have seen the difference between ‘nominal’ and ‘evangelical’ Christ followers.

Start a fire - You can do something about this!

Download the “Seek God for the City” app (iPhone or Android) and pay special attention to the ‘all nations’ aspect of the prayer focus.

Old school still works...the newest version of Operation World walks you through various aspects of the global Gospel advance.

Old, old school still works, too! Remember the paper version of the Alliance directory? Yeah, you can use it as a prayer guide for work, and workers around the world!

Start a fire!

Post-script note: The Alliance is a Great Commission focused family of believers who desires to see Christ-followers among all peoples, everywhere. This includes foreign students in the US, immigrants and refugees living within this country’s borders, as well as people groups and nationalities worldwide.
