Jesus had come to tabernacle with his people, the Jews. They just don't understand this yet.

John 7:14-39

The time and place are still the feast of tabernacles, the harvest feast, in the Temple courts of Jerusalem.

The players are Messiah, Jewish leaders/teachers and the Jewish people who are celebrating the feast of tabernacles.

Messiah teaches and the Jews were amazed. Astounded that he had such authority, such knowledge of the Law (Torah)the Old Testament, (the Tanakh). But he, the ETERNAL LOGOS, the eternal word, confronts these men who wonder where such a common uneducated man gets his 'learning'!

2 connections in what Jesus is teaching:

Judaism. Our Lord has just recently confronted the Jewish leaders on their breaking the Sabbath law (John 5). Now he accuses them of wanting to kill him! Another law will be broken! Murder!.
Jesus accuses them of breaking the Sabbath by circumcising on the Sabbath. He concedes that circumcision takes precedence over the Sabbath due to the covenant's earlier occurence historically; circumcision was commanded first. So if cutting a small part of the body (circumcision) on the Sabbath is good, how much more defensible was healing an entire body on the Sabbath?
The Father ("He who sent me") The popular belief was that no one would know where the Messiah would come from and he would appear without warning.
Jesus told them they know his human origins but they, in fact, don't know his true origins. He came from the one who sent him. The Father. Who is true, real. And Father is unknown to them even with all of their protests.

The Jewish people said that Messiah wouldn't do any more miracles than this man about (Jesus), and this angered the chief priests and the Pharisees who didn't usually agree on much. United they sent guards to arrest Jesus.

Jesus also said he was on mission from Father and the Jews thought this mission was to go to the Jews in other lands. Of course this wouldn't happen until our Lord had gone home and and was seated beside the one who sent him - his Father.

On the last and greatest day of the feast, Jesus stood and said in a loud voice: "If anyone is thirsty, let him come to me and drink.Whoever believes in me, as the Scripture has said, streams of living water will flow from within him."
(John 7:37-38 NIV)"
The Spirit will quench your thirst and flow from inside you so abundantly!
Jesus is the ultimate source of the Spirit.
Jesus is the source of the blessing at this great feast.
In fact this feast is all about our Lord Messiah.
Jesus had come to tabernacle with his people. They just don't know this yet. Most of them still don't know.
