"After these things, there was a feast of the Jews, and Jesus went up to Jerusalem. Now in Jerusalem by the sheep gate, there is a pool, which is called in Hebrew, “Bethesda,†having five porches. In these lay a great multitude of those who were sick, blind, lame, or paralyzed, waiting for the moving of the water; for an angel of the Lord went down at...

"After the two days he went out from there and went into Galilee. For Jesus himself testified that a prophet has no honor in his own country. So when he came into Galilee, the Galileans received him, having seen all the things that he did in Jerusalem at the feast, for they also went to the feast. Jesus came therefore again to Cana of Galilee, where he ma...

(Mark 16:15 WEB)
(Mark 16:15 WEB)
At this, his disciples came. They marveled that he was speaking with a woman; yet no one said, "What are you looking for?" or, "Why do you speak with her?" "But sir, you don't have a rope or a bucket," she said, "and this is a very deep well. Where would you get this living water? And besides, are you greater than our ancestor Jacob who gave us this well? How can you offer better water than he and his sons and his cattle enjoyed?"

"Eventually he came to the Samaritan village of Sychar, near the parcel of ground that Jacob gave to his son Joseph. Jacob's well was there; and Jesus, tired from the long walk, sat wearily beside the well about noontime."
(John 4:5-6 NLT)
It's striking how human our Lord was. He was tired from the long walk. It was about noon.

John 4 Jesus learned that the Pharisees had heard, "Jesus is baptizing and making more disciples than John" (though Jesus himself didn't baptize them-his disciples did). So he left Judea to return to Galilee.
He had to go through Samaria on the way.

I have been pondering the next encounter in John 3.
It's John 3:22-36. The simple message of the Gospel-We preach only Christ! The Baptist was baptizing on the west bank of the river Jordan. He was about 1/3 way north between the Sea of Galilee and the Dead Sea, which are connected by the Jordan River. He was outside the rule of Herod Antipas....

Nicodemus! We all know the story! Or do we? I've spent the last week looking at Jesus' interview with Nicodemus. There is so much to understand. I'll try to summarize it. The Nicodemus interview is very important. It not only shows that Nicodemus, a high ranking and most learned Pharisaic Jew didn't know what God required to enter his...

"When it was almost time for the Jewish Passover, Jesus went up to Jerusalem. In the temple courts he found men selling cattle, sheep and doves, and others sitting at tables exchanging money. So he made a whip out of cords, and drove all from the temple area, both sheep and cattle; he scattered the coins of the money changers and overturned their tables....
